Russia has committed 524 crimes against journalists and media in Ukraine. In July 2023, five freedom of speech violations committed by Russia were recorded. As of 24 July, a total of 65 media workers died in Ukraine, with 10 of those dying while reporting.

As for cultural infrastructure objects, as of 26 June, 1,582 objects have suffered damage, and about one-third (585) were completely destroyed. In particular, 598 Ukrainian libraries have been damaged since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

As of 25 June, according to the Ministry of Culture & Information Policy, 660+ cultural heritage sites were damaged or destroyed, excluding cultural infrastructure such as libraries or other institutions located in modern buildings. Twenty-four of them were destroyed completely.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 3,536 educational institutions have suffered bombing and shelling, 3,199 have been damaged, and 337 have been destroyed completely.

The energy sector accounts for over a quarter of the total damages caused by the explosion at the HPP, amounting to $586 mln. Total damages to the sector are $624 mln. The annual economic losses incurred by the state-owned company Ukrhydroenergo exceed $100 mln.

The #Kakhovka reservoir was used to supply water for irrigation systems and livestock farming across a total area of 584,000 ha. As a result, indirect losses for crop production are projected to increase by $182 mln annually.

As a consequence of Russians blowing up the #Kakhovka dam, the destruction of crop plantations, livestock, and fish stocks has resulted in agricultural damages of $25 million.

The estimated amount of losses caused to the environment by the Kakhovka dam explosion is app. $1.5 bln. Around 150 tons of oil leaked during the explosion. The salinity level of the Black Sea near Odesa is nearly three times lower than the norm.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, due to the #Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station explosion, almost all the fish in the reservoir were practically wiped out. In total, at least 11,388 tons of fish have been lost.

Russian attacks against 🇺🇦 have caused over UAH 305 bln in environmental damage, incl. UAH 300+ bln as soil pollution; UAH 700+ mln as soil contamination with petroleum products & other dangerous chemical substances; UAH 4+ bln as unorganized emissions of pollutants into the air.

Kyiv hosted the inaugural meeting of the International Working Group on War's Environmental Impact on 30 June. The group focuses on 1) Assessing war's eco effects, 2) Crafting ways to hold an aggressor accountable, ensuring 🇷🇺 pays for damage, & 3) Driving environmental recovery.

According to Ukrainian government figures, 19,553 Ukrainian children have reportedly been taken to Russia. As of July 26, only 385 children have been returned to their families.

Since the start of the full-scale war, more than 1,574 children have been injured or killed by Russian armed forces. 497 children were killed due to military activities, and more than 1,077 were injured, mostly due to shelling and airstrikes.

As of 16 July, 25,671 civilian casualties were recorded due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including 9,287 killed and 16,384 injured, according to OHCHR. OHCHR believes that the actual figures are considerably higher 💔

Demining measures in Ukraine are estimated to take approximately 757 years to complete, under the condition that 500 demining teams will continue operating simultaneously. The World Bank estimates it will cost $37.4 billion over the next 10 years.

Another survey by the Rating Group shows that the attitude of Ukrainians toward the largest allied countries remains very positive: most respondents consider Poland, the U.S. & the United Kingdom as friendly countries. Attitudes toward Germany among Ukrainians continue to improve

According to the survey by the Sociological Group, ‘Rating’, 67% of those interviewed believe that things are headed in the right direction in Ukraine, 18% are of the opposite opinion, and a further 15% could not assess.

According to the Human Impact Assessment report released by the UN, 65% of 🇺🇦 households reported a decrease in income since Feb 2022. As for food security, 44% of households cannot afford essential needs, driving food insecurity.

In addition, G7 countries will aim to strengthen Ukraine’s economic stability and resilience, including through reconstruction and recovery efforts, to create the conditions conducive to promoting Ukraine’s economic prosperity, including its energy security.
