India, the most vegetarian nation on earth, now has a Prime Minister going on national radio to beg it to use less cooking oil.
In February 2025 Narendra Modi used his monthly broadcast to ask every family to cut its edible oil by 10%, and to pass the challenge on to ten others. By August he was repeating it in his Independence Day speech. The national school board told schools to put up oil boards, and the health ministry wanted signs in offices showing how much oil is in a samosa.
He had reason. In 2022, 212 million Indians had diabetes, more than a quarter of every diabetic on the planet, and 133 million of them weren't being treated. He warned the country it could have 440 million obese people by 2050.
It starts before birth. Doctors in Pune found Indian newborns were the best part of a kilo lighter than British ones, and had lost far less of their fat than of everything else. They named it the thin-fat baby.
This is the nation that eats around 8kg of meat a head a year, a fraction of the world average. The plate is rice, roti, dal and vegetables, as approved by every plant-based book in print.
And the fat it is cooked in stopped being ghee a long time ago. India is the biggest importer of edible oil on earth, and the tins on the kitchen shelf hold soybean, sunflower and palm.
A country that eats a fraction of the world's meat and swapped its ghee for the imported tins has ended up with a quarter of the world's diabetes. It is still cited as proof that the plants work.
The ghee was never the problem, India. Put it back in the pan.
The heart attack was first described in a medical journal in 1912, and the man who described it had trouble finding a second case.
Doctors had been opening chests for 300 years. They had dissected kings, paupers, drunks and the obese, and the blocked coronary artery was a rarity you wrote up.
A young Boston cardiologist started practising in 1911. He later said he did not see his first heart attack patient until 1921, and then they came in a flood.
By 1950 it was the biggest killer in the United States. By 1960, in Britain.
Victorian England ate butter, dripping, suet, bacon and cream, and smoked like a chimney, and the coronary ward did not exist.
The Masai lived on milk, meat and blood, and the doctors who went looking in the 1960s could not find heart disease among them.
So what arrived between the dissecting rooms of 1900 and the coronary care units of 1960?
Crisco launched in 1911. Cottonseed oil hardened into a block that looked like lard.
Margarine followed it into every kitchen.
By 1960 a quarter of American fat came out of a seed press that had not existed in 1900.
The seed oil goes into your blood on the LDL particle. It is the part of the particle that oxidises. The oxidised particle is what the artery wall takes in.
The cholesterol was in the butter for a thousand years and the artery stayed open.
Then the fat changed, and a disease nobody had heard of became the way most people die.
The guideline blames the butter. The butter has an alibi going back to the Bronze Age.
Settled science has a pattern, and it is the same man every time: a committee with the funding, and one awkward person they laughed at.
It was settled that stomach ulcers came from stress. In 1984 an Australian registrar drank a flask of the bacteria, gave himself gastritis, and took the Nobel Prize in 2005.
It was settled that the continents did not move. The weatherman who said they did was mocked for 20 years, froze to death on the Greenland ice in 1930, and was proved right in the 1960s.
It was settled that cutting the front off a brain cured madness. It won the Nobel Prize in 1949. Forty thousand Americans were lobotomised before anyone was allowed to say it did not.
It was settled that a heart attack meant six weeks flat on your back. Two Boston cardiologists sat their patients in an armchair in 1952, the clots stopped, and the deaths halved.
It was settled that a gentleman's hands could not carry disease. The Hungarian doctor who made his students wash them cut deaths on his ward from 18% to 2%, was driven out, and died in an asylum.
It was settled that cigarettes were fine. More doctors smoked Camels than any other brand, said the advert in 1949. Two British epidemiologists published the lung cancer numbers the next year and were ignored for a decade.
It was settled that margarine was better than butter. The Illinois chemist who found the trans fats in it in 1957 was dismissed for 50 years, watched them banned in 2015, and died at 102.
It was settled that eggs raised your cholesterol. Forty years of advice was removed from the guidelines in 2015 without a word of apology.
It was settled that babies sleep on their fronts. The advice ran from 1956 to 1991, and the researchers who finally counted estimated 60,000 cot deaths that need not have happened.
Nine settled positions. Each one held by the people with the committees, the journals and the word science.
Each one broken by one person with the evidence and a bad reputation.
Settled is the word a committee uses for the moment it would prefer you stopped checking.
Im aware last couple days NZ has been discussing wahine Māori visiting gang pads.
As a child I saw these men commit rapes. Raping women, tamariki. I paid that price too.
To these women, the anger & deep disgust that runs thru my toto towards you is intense.

What is the difference between what Brian Tamaki said and the Free Palestine Party said about celebrating murder, rape and kidnapping. Are the police going to to knock down Paul Hopkinson's and John Minto’s doors?

Hola, soy palestino. 🇵🇸
1947. La ONU me ofreció un estado. Junto a Israel. Fronteras, independencia, reconocimiento.
Me dio autonomía.
¿Democracia? No he tenido elecciones en casi 20 años.
@piersmorgan@ZelenskyyUa What a fuckin cunt with a ponce name (Piers 😂). Zelensky is in the same realm as Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Jalaluddin Haqqani, Adolfo Calero, Enrique Bermúdez, Luis Posada Carriles and here I relent- there are plenty more
🚨SERIOUS QUESTION: Are you thrilled President Trump denied 440,000 illegals and ordered every foreigner removed immediately?
DO YOU BELIEVE PRESIDENT TRUMP WAS SENT TO US BY GOD?
A. YES
B. NO
🚨BREAKING: The left is once again trying to cancel J.K. Rowling after she posted a clear and direct statement on biological reality.
In a recent X post, Rowling wrote:
“A pantomime horse is not a horse.
A hot dog is not a dog.
Crow’s feet are not feet.
Trans women are not women.”
The post quickly went viral and triggered the usual wave of outrage, demands for deplatforming, and accusations of bigotry from activists and online critics who insist that stating biological sex is somehow hateful.
Rowling has faced years of sustained campaigns to silence her for defending women’s single-sex spaces, sports, and the material reality of sex. Despite the pressure, she continues to refuse to pretend that men can become women.
The latest backlash only proves the point: some people still cannot tolerate the simple truth.
