It has been such a blast hosting the @JHMuseumStudies Instagram this week. I have been able to share a lot about my local area and experiences with working in small museums and a children's museum.
Would recommend to any fellow students interested!
@AmyBarracloug13 It's good to know that everyone is doing everything possible to help Ukraine with both the war and preserving cultural and historical items.
Somehow I didn't even know this was a thing! As someone who works in a children's museum I need to get my own museum on this quick!

To mark #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, we would like to take the opportunity to highlight that the #Museum is signed up to the Breastfeeding Welcome Here Award! 🧑🍼 We are always happy to provide help and support for mothers who wish to breastfeed 🤱
@thehulupputree This is so cool! I'm also very excited to see the possibilities that 3D scanning can bring to collections, the possibilities will be endless!
Our museum mourns the loss of Nichelle Nichols, who helped shape societal ideas of what African Americans are capable of both in television & science with her role as Lieutenant Uhura in Star Trek, one of the first Black women featured in a major television series.
The fact that this is such a common occurrence is shameful. Please stop underpaying entry level positions and asking for 5+ years of experience for ENTRY LEVEL positions.
Five new interviews with Native artists, including Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, have joined the more than 2,500 in oral history collection. Read more on our blog: https://t.co/5FTNoBoKTn.
📷 Still from oral history interview with Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, 2021 August 24-25.
As Lieutenant Uhura, Nichelle Nichols exuded expertise and authority. Watching her manage intergalactic communications on a space vessel, women, girls, and African Americans could envision themselves in such roles. My sincere condolences to her friends, family, and community.
#OTD in 1971, Apollo 15 astronauts David Scott & James Irwin collected this piece of basalt from the Moon—you can see it today in the Museum’s Hall of the Universe! Apollo 15 astronauts were the first to drive a Lunar Rover vehicle, from which they collected this & other samples.
Did Indiana Jones REALLY inspire you to become an archaeologist, or is it just the earliest representation of archaeology you can recall?

We all learn differently-what works to light the spark of learning for one might not work for another. On the first Sunday of the month, we host Sensory Friendly Sundays, perfect for those who learn best in a calmer museum environment. See you 8/7! https://t.co/Q6zaBmFgUX
