Missed this a few days ago, but this is correct from the CEO of Lloyds Bank on the underlying strengths of the UK economy:

"Real wages rising, household savings at their highest levels for decades, and consumers and businesses continuing to reduce their indebtedness. About 60 per cent of households strengthened their financial position last year."
