While some may be ordained clergy and earn their livelihood from serving and representing the church, others like Amos and myself find ourselves serving in different capacities within the world but are no less called by God to do the work that we are doing in the world. #bibhb500

When I think of a prophet, I think of Isaiah, Elijah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, etc. What I notice about all the prophets that I know and who have books about them is that they are male. However, I learned this week in #bibhb500 that #NotAllProphets were men.

However, he was still a prophet because of the divine call that he received. (Coogan & Chapman, 292) This seems important and interesting because it reminds me that we are all called by the divine for different purposes.

Each of these theories have their own issues so we will probably never know which is true. But again, I like to think in terms of the power of storytelling and sweet rebellion of the marginalized 😋

In this week’s #bibhb500 materials, I learned how the book of Judges “provides valuable data for reconstructing the process by which Israel gradually established its own identity and extended its territorial control.” (Coogan & Chapman, 207) That's if it even happened gradually👀

But Essentially, folks come to tell their story of how Yahweh liberated them & this compels the marginalized & oppressed in Canaan to convert and revolt, fleeing to the hills and creating a more egalitarian Yahweh worshipping society. (Lester) It just sounds so wholesome.
