The Mwache Dam Project; A flagship initiative designed to revolutionise water security and unlock Kenya’s agricultural potential has now reached an impressive 80% overall completion.
Key components have recorded strong progress:
✅Main Dam: 86% complete .
✅Lower Check Dam: 87% complete
✅Base Camp: 99% complete
✅Administration Building: 99% complete
✅Clinic: 85% complete
✅Police Post: 70% complete
✅Relocated Schools: 98% complete
Supporting infrastructure is rapidly nearing completion, with the relocated schools almost ready for commissioning and occupation.
This strong momentum reflects the Government’s firm commitment to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Through major irrigation investments like Mwache Dam, the Government is systematically expanding water supply, boosting food production, and strengthening resilience against climate shocks to ensure national food security.
Upon completion, the dam will deliver lasting water security, catalyse socio-economic development, and transform livelihoods for communities across the Coastal region.
Today, alongside Uasin Deputy Governor Hon. Evans Kapkea, I conducted an inspection tour of key National Government infrastructure projects in Uasin Gishu County being implemented by the Ministry of Defence, through the Kenya Defence Forces, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Sports and the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
The tour commenced at Kipchoge Keino Stadium, where we assessed the ongoing upgrade works aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure and nurturing talent in the region. The project is progressing steadily and has attained 45 per cent completion, with works on course for completion in December.
I was accompanied by Ms. Veska Kangogo, Advisor on Strategy and Execution in the Executive Office of the President; Director General for Sports, Mr. Timothy Kilimo; Chief of Special Projects at Defence Headquarters, Brigadier Titus Sokobe; and other senior Government and military officials.

Several Kenyans are now complaining of police extortion after @ntsa_kenya failed to issue KDY number plates for weeks, leaving motorists exposed to harassment on the roads.
There are claims that money extorted from affected motorists is allegedly collected and taken to NTSA headquarters every evening.

The Government is taking steps to implement the recommendations of the Technical Working Group on Gender Based Violence and Femicide.
Legislative, policy and administrative interventions as well as a sustained public campaign to sensitise society are underway to stem the cases of femicide, and violence targeting men, women and children.
Met the leadership of the Ministry responsible for Gender, directed that the GBV and Femicide report be immediately transmitted for Cabinet and Parliamentary processing of the interventions that require statutory or policy reform.
As we expand our national fibre optic network, digital infrastructure and ICT hubs, we look forward to deepening our collaboration and leveraging Nokia’s expertise to accelerate digital transformation and connectivity.
