Eugenia Menaguale's (@emenaguale) job market paper studies how market power in technology-specific capital markets shapes the direction of firms' technology adoption and workers' specific human capital accumulation. https://t.co/RwsIYavvSC
What happens when online job applicants start using LLMs? It ain't good.
1. Pre-LLM, cover letter quality predicts your work quality, and a good cover gets you a job
2. LLMs wipe out the signal, and employer demand falls
3. Model suggests high ability workers lose the most

Carolyn Tsao's job market paper investigates whether public school teachers earn rents. Her novel approach to quantifying rents explicitly takes both pay and the value of non-wage amenities into account. https://t.co/adqXZUrqk7

Most people commenting on this tweet talk about the board game. I think with monopoly @ArianaGrande means “when a specific person or enterprise is the only supplier of a particular commodity.”
When I finished the first edition of my intro book and sent it for editing, I thought I was home free. Then the publisher returned the edited manuscript. The most memorable edit: every instance of “maximum likelihood estimator” had been changed to “most likely estimator.”
