Put together The Blind Pig, Ann Arbor, in 1971; Coffee Express Roasting Company, Plymouth, 1975; and Momento Gelato and Coffee, Corktown, Detroit, 2022.
@gailcollins wrote When Allen Ginsberg Came to Town https://t.co/88c3hyEoee, about an event at Marquette University in the late Sixties. Such a beautiful story.
@nytdavidbrooks As a gap child -my siblings were teenagers when I was four- I locked onto pop music of a young Elvis, the Crickets. Motown followed, through Talking Heads, Eminem, Avril Lavigne. Always current pop. Reluctantly, have to admit I've recently slowed. I'm with you David.
Saturday Momento Gelato and Coffee showed its potential as Corktown's ice cream gathering spot. Summer weather popped out and @Detroit was abuzz. Miguel Cabrera even hit his 3000th. Our customers reflect the diversity of where we serve, and they came out in droves (NYTimes photo)
The move out of the gate to open a gelateria in Detroit began in 2016. Momento Gelato and Coffee sits a block and a half north of Michigan Ave in the heart of @Corktown. Plan to open December 9 if all goes well. Will keep you posted.
Began a pursuit to open a gelateria in Detroit in September of 2016. Can finally announce Momento Gelato and Coffee scheduled to open in Corktown around September 2!
Listening to @anndelisimusic Saturday show on @wdet. They are playing groups who have 'shouted out' to Detroit in music. The 80s/90s group ABC's When Smokey Sings. Great tribute to Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
Listening to Dan Dickerson @971theticketxyt and Chris McCloskey @detnews_sports call the @tigers Sunday afternoon game. Heaven! Two who know baseball and the Tigers better than anyone, sharing the broadcast booth.
Lou Brock -a phenomenal player and good guy all around. Jerry Green @detnews_sports wrote he came into Detroit's locker room after Game 7 1968 to congratulate Al Kaline and the team. Play at the plate in Game 5 looms large in Tiger lore.
Saw the #SaveTheManual@HenryEPayne in this morning's @detroitnews My 2018 Mustang and 2011 Ranger are stick shifts. Trying to decide how to replace the Ranger when the time comes. Jeep Gladiator pickup, new Bronco, plus the possibility a new Ranger coming with a stick option.
@Lynn_Henning the Nationals drafted Strasburg, then Bryce Harper. Turns out they didn't need Harper, but Strasburg won two big games to snare the World Series trophy. Emerson Hancock may be way too good to pass over. Nice to see you 'pitching in' with the occasional article.
Saw @bobdylan and His Band at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor last night. The troubadour continues to thrive on what he's done his whole career: sing and play.
