@Hepmepleez@brettachapman But there's no question that it was increasingly contentious, and was part of what was effectively our own civil war concurrent with the US civil war. It's just a shame on us that we took until the 2020s to recognize our Freedmen kin as kin in full.

As a nation (the CN in IT) we didn't prohibit slavery and we made it an article of Tribal law ca 1839 and 1863, the latter with a treaty with the Confederacy explicitly stating so in exchange for promised sovereignty.
