@zetalyrae@alcuintweets Time will tell. Pure slop either gets abandoned quickly or keeps adding barely working features until software becomes unmaintainable.
I’m sure there will be good well designed software projects built with AI. They will be rare due to higher effort, but they will exist.
I will never understand the level of hostility people have to other people losing their jobs. As if randomly laid off workers (those civil workers or those in tech) are somehow personally responsible for organizational failures and the state of the world
The Dutch government aims to cut 25,000 civil servant jobs in an AI-led efficiency drive targeting annual savings of €3.5 billion https://t.co/2T00EL68Il

lmao
Surprising that no one used AI to rewrite their B2B SaaS Unicorn AI Harness in Brainfuck, and claim that Brainfuck is the future because what else could it be
@Clipart_Bear@wordgrammer But we were told "Claude make no mistakes" works just as well at preventing bugs. The "we have unlimited tokens to fix everything" guy even had his robot to port a screensaver to assembly, what other arguments do you need?
@an0n_Nic Depends on timelines. Current doom & gloom scenarios assume rapid diffusion that may lead to rapid middle class mobilisation. Slow diffusion may lead to slow decay into desperation without political mobilisation
@resdegen@jkrdoc The problem is that it does not magically create infinite healthcare supply. So the tradeoff is that access is limited through imperfect triaging. Overall it seems to preserve lives and no one gets bankrupt, but there are cases where people suffer for longer than they should
@resdegen@jkrdoc I don't think ineficcient is the right word. From financial point of view it's quite the opposite: the system is optimized to provide minimal necessary amount of care at reasonable costs.
@controlflow I think this framing is valid when the interview process is meant as a test to maximize job fit. For some employers it may simply be a good-enough way to pick from a pool of good-enough candidates. One round could be samba dancing for all it matters.
@rob_mcrobberson@benjamin_horne@The_Rad_Dawg I'm still not sure why separate big tech from the sector in context of bubbliness. Even if Big Tech does not go bankrupt (which I think is likely), OAIs/Ants failing to match committments could cause wide blast radius and would be considered a large capital misallocation
@rob_mcrobberson@benjamin_horne@The_Rad_Dawg When meta signs non-cancellable lease, it may not be on the balance sheet, but it is effectively debt. And the companies they contract need to finance construction somehow: either via debt or equity baked by those committments. In my view it looks like taking proxy debt
