New statement: over the last few weeks I have seen how toxic the gender critical scene is. Accusations of funding from the American far right are compelling, obvious, demonstrable hatred of trans women and crack pot conspiracy theories are rife.

@sarahditum It’s streamlining a process that already exists, not replacing one or a new thing. Your issue goes back to the equality act of 2011 and the GRA of 2004.

@sarahditum Karen White happened because sex offenders happen. Sexual assaults happen in under funded prisons. She happened without self ID. Self ID wouldn’t have changed it. Putting a dangerous, evil person in the general population was wrong. It didn’t happen because she is trans.

@sarahditum It’s a flawed premise. It does change things for trans people. But practically it won’t change things for anyone else. Trans people without gender recognition certificates already use male/female spaces all the time and have done for decades.

@sarahditum They are fighting hard for it because it would improve things for trans people and the response has been overwhelmingly bad. Almost daily attacks in the media, gender critical activists calling trans people ridiculous on this morning...it’s all so stupid.
