Cold? Heat is your right! If you are not getting enough heat tell your landlord, call 311, & ORGANIZE with your fellow tenants!

@JamesNintzel @bradlander Great point James! However, there are in fact other communities (low-income) who are more diverse & going through facial recognition just as we are. Some were brave enough to come & speak on behalf of the other tenants at the recent city council hearing.
Thanks @bradlander for proposing a Bill (KEYS ACT) that would require landlords to provide tenants with/a traditional key, instead of “smart keys” that rely on facial scanners & smartphone apps, which could be used to track tenants movements & collect their personal data.
Tenants from Atlantic Plaza Towers in Brownsville call on us to ask who this technology benefits and who it harms, highlighting the disproportionate inaccuracies of facial recognition tech in identifying people of color, esp black women
But they say that they aren't fascist, bias, or discriminate against certain ppl, but evidence says otherwise. YO IT'S WAR OUT HERE! WE GOTTA BAND TOGETHER!!!
The US gov't has the largest #immigration detention system in the world & spends more resources on the criminalization of immigrants than on all federal enforcement agencies combined.
Our criminal legal system must be dismantled & radically transformed.

Police are a gang that protects their gang members bad behavior. Throw them all away and invest in resources not militarized police that routinely abuse power
Tackled down for selling candy in a subway station which btw has been done for many years w/o any problems, is now one? Especially when a minority is making a profit has become a serious crime. Meanwhile, sex traffickers & black-market for stolen organs for the rich still remain?
7:30 last night, 4 police officers brutally tackling a Black teenager to the ground at the 125th street Harlem subway stop.
They were arresting him for selling candy.
Finkelstein of FTRE management didn't show up to @RTCNYC#EvictionTribunal this month but 901 Walton Tenants' Association isn't giving up! They're here demanding apartment repairs, better building maintenance, and #NoMoreMCIs#NoEvictions#NoDisplacement
Hey check us out at our 1st City Council hearing at City Hall on October 7, 2019. We urged government officials to legislate a ban against facial recognition aka biometric technology use on residential premises -- especially in low-income housing.

Leave it to Putin to want to implement the intrusive survillance system that China uses to monitor Muslims, complete with pervasive cameras, facial-recognition technology, and big-data analysis. https://t.co/GTcSjugVxQ
