Codex is written in rust and it makes a huge difference in startup time! I benchmarked the time to get the version from the cli:

Claude Code: 0.9s
Gemini Cli: 3s
Codex: 0.14s

Gemini and Claude need to rewrite their cli apps in rust.

Gemini 3 Flash it out! Greater speed at a fraction of the cost. We are going to see all models trending in this direction. I think the existing frontier models already produce good enough code, but I think more productivity can be unlocked by making these models faster.

Surprisingly Codex doesn't have a free tier plan, so you can't try before you buy. You need to get the Plus plan ($20/month) to test it.

@jeffgilchrist A PM2.5 level of 100 ug/m^3 gives a AQHI level of 4.8 (according to the formula in wikipedia - and assuming no other pollutants). How did you get AQHI=10?

I compared various agentic coding tools with on the same set of coding tasks on a real project that I am working on. Here's my ranking based on the quality of the output, and the overall user experience:

Claude Code > Cursor > Gemini CLI > Junie > Code Pilot > Windsurf

Take this with a grain of salt...the quality of the tools is changing rapidly. Will need to reevaluate in a couple of months.

@debreuil It's called v2x. Not new, but it seems like the automotive industry, for some reason, isn't in any rush to roll it out even with the clear benefits of saving hundreds of lives a year and substantial decrease in the rate of all types of accidents.
