It would be great if politicians would stop talking about teachers' need to be paid more and actually do something about it. When pay hasnt even kept up with cost living and teachers cont to work multiple jobs to survive, it insults them and the profession.

When teachers have concerns, we need to do a better job of listening. Remember teachers tend to be high in agreeableness and conscientiousness. This means they don't like conflict and even when they feel something is wrong they are often afraid to speak up.

Team concepts that are lacking in some schools:
1) Consistency: turnover of staff/admin destroys consistency.
2) Momentum: we jump from program to program.
never give time to build on successes.
3) Morale: support & encouraging each other.
4) Collaboration instead of competition

Did you know we spend over $7 Billion a year on teacher turnover? Common sense should tell us that If we spent that money on teacher retention, we wouldn't have to spend it on teacher attrition.
