I don't know what the powers that be globally expect from young people. Continued unrest is inevitable. You can't make it increasingly difficult for them to have dignified lives and opportunities and expect them to just sit there and do nothing.
Your current local government can't provide 24 hours - 7 days operating clinics, clean water, electricity, roads, reduce crime, insourcing of security, cleaners and other services. The level of crime in your area is scary. Your streets & traffic lights are off. You are paying municipal rates but hey look around you. No affordable space to operate your business or build your house(Land). But our problem is illegal migrants and our vote during Local Government Elections should be driven by illegal migrants not Basic Services ? 👀 Excu
I don’t think people fully understand what’s happening. We’re not being priced out of luxury. We’re being priced out of normal. A house, car, Groceries, Childcare, Insurance,These weren’t extravagant expectations 20 years ago.
Sizwe was right, everyone must do an LLB. Some of you desperately need to learn that “I dislike the outcome because it favours the ANC” is not a legal argument.
They're trying to impose their MAGA ideologies on us. In south africa, we have a mosque, a church, and a temple on one street with no issues. Some houses are even multi faith
I’m sorry but we stood no chance 😭 You look at the calibre of people other countries appoint as ministers and then look at South Africa. Rwanda has a Sports Minister with a degree in Economics and a Master’s in Economic Policy Management. Ours his background includes a criminal conviction with no qualifications. We even have a Minister of Defence with no military rank. The difference in the standards we accept for public office is staggering.
Jacinta's has been beating the drums of identity, she has identified the common enemy as an "immigrant", her incendiary, inflammatory epiteths have been repeated in the media about who belongs to South Africa and who doesn't. Go read Prof Mamdani's book about Rwandan Genocide
People are claiming that she’s a front for a Nigerian with zero evidence she actually is. This is because “jollofina” is primary a tool of dehumanisation. You don’t ever have to have been around a Nigerian man. The point is dehumanising you
Anti-immigrant mob threatens to burn women and children.
Threats of physical harm and death hurled at the immigrants and their children if they “did not leave the country”. GroundUp reporter was slapped on the face several times. https://t.co/Dx4t76GVrh
This is not uniquely South African. But what really scares me is that I'm starting to think there are no strategies you can teach people to counter disinformation because disinformation works perfectly for how social media platforms have been designed for human nature.
