UPDATE: Our boy, Balo, has settled nicely into the U19 team of FK Voždovac in Belgrade, Serbia. Just a few months ago, before @biolakazeem, @stgboye and I took him to Europe, Balo was playing for my club, Ibadan United, and training on the football pitch I built at Urban Day Grammar School, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.

Today, he is in Europe, taking the next steps in his journey towards football success. My desire is to unearth more talents and send them on the path to success.

Our economy grew by 4.43% in the second quarter of 2026, up from 4.23% in the same period last year.

Growth was recorded across agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas, and services, which now make the largest contribution to our GDP.

In nominal terms, our GDP reached ₦119.27 trillion, up 18.43% from ₦100.7 trillion in the same period last year.

These numbers matter because they show where our economy is going after three years of difficult but necessary reforms.

Sheikh Jaafar Adam preached that same Salafism until his own student, Mohammed Yusuf, took it somewhere Jaafar wouldn’t follow. Sharia law wasn’t radical enough. The state wasn’t Islamic enough. Jaafar said so publicly. Boko Haram killed him for it in 2007.

Two years later, Yusuf was dead too and Nigeria inherited an insurgency built from an ideology it never fully owned.
