depending on who's asking.
oh and that one player whose computer runs at 144fps while everyone else is at 60? yeah good luck with that.
however, after seeing it "partially working", I'm quite happy with the result.
10/10 would suffer again
i was working on multiplayer for stickmanjs, thinking "just sync positions, how hard can it be?"
- characters teleporting everywhere
- discovered race conditions between physics & network updates
- "why is everyone moonwalking backwards?"
- rewrote multiplayer logic from scratch
- "why doesn't the S key work?" (it needs double-tap)
- commented out console.logs, latency dropped 80%
apparently, multiplayer isn't adding networking to your game. it's rebuilding your entire game to be deterministic, discovering that "player.x = 100" means 7 different things
stickmanjs now has a debug view. you can change the speed and gravity of the stickman, see all the platforms that has been calculated.
almost there to publish the first version.

why stuff (marathon) looks like this…. so heads up kids, do your homework, i give you a starter: after designers republic hit hard in 1996 with wipeout there were several other design studios how took up the torch, case in point: bionic-systems (germany, late 90s/early 00s) #marathon
