Washing Rice, a poem
My whole life I resisted washing rice
It was a pointless and an annoying step
As you get older you realize that your laziness or hubris catches up with you
You realize there is a point to these mundane little bits of life
There is a noticeable improvement in quality when you surrender
So I started washing my rice
But as I rinsed, frustration mounted every time
How do I drain it without using a messy colander where the rice sticks to it
Or without using my hands which also gets rice stuck all over me and the sink
Until one day I realized that I was trying to exert too much control
I was overbearing and causing problems that wouldn’t otherwise exist
Instead of utilizing the inherent strength of rice sticking to itself
I treated it like a burdensome weakness
Once I realized that all I have to do is pour the water out without anything other rice and water’s natural propensities, my life improved dramatically
I fight against myself all the time in these little ways
Never realizing it’s always been me standing in my own way
If I could just see the reality that control is unhealthy in many situations, I could be happier, calmer, and flowing with life instead of against it
How odd that the desire to control just ends up controlling me
@churrascooooo My trainer started to incorporate incline press and was shocked that I didn’t have the same progress/struggle curve as flat bench.
Bulgarian split squats on the other hand…. 😬 the only way out is through
@laugh_track_nat Cook books and YouTube channels that show their mistakes and explain how to cook from a principle based perspective. Internet Shaquille is one of my favorites for this. Also, it helps to master a skill by doing it over and over again. Like making a basic sauce bc it will elevate
