Tonight Camden Labour engaged in a wretched spectacle.

The Council was due to debate a motion on Camden's duty to divest its pension fund from companies violating international law. The thrust was to force Camden to divest from companies complicit in Israel's genocide in Gaza.

But the motion was never debated. Instead Labour councillors ran down the clock with meandering interventions. The meeting was promptly adjourned at 22:00.

I was watching the live stream. The moment the meeting adjourned, protestors in the gallery began calling out the stitch-up. The Council immediately cut the live stream. I have no doubt they did so to prevent people seeing and hearing the anger of local residents who have had this issue kicked into the long grass by Labour yet again.

The motion will not come for debate until after the by-election.

This is what they tried to censor: local residents furious that Labour and Sagal Abdi-Wali refuse to do the right thing and immediately divest from genocide.

Camden Labour is ground-zero for Starmerism and the politics of complicity he pioneered.

REPORT | The Mikeno Breakthrough

One vessel from the Global Sumud Flotilla appears to have made history this week. The Mikeno, a Greek-flagged humanitarian aid ship with a multinational crew with participation from Turkey, Malaysia, the U.S., and Spain, evaded Israeli assaults and entered Gaza’s territorial waters, becoming the first civilian vessel since 2009 to breach Israel’s illegal naval blockade.

➤ *Radio confirmation*: Crew on nearby flotilla ships said they received a message from the Mikeno’s captain declaring: “We see land.” Turkish delegate Ramazan Tunç told Anadolu Agency the ship had crossed into Palestinian waters.

➤ *How it slipped through*: Starting around 3 a.m. Gaza time, the Mikeno, captained by Muhammad Küçüktigin, a Turkish skipper, is suspected by social media sleuths to have intermittently cut its AIS transponder, a radar tracking system used by navies to monitor vessels. This “dark sailing” tactic disrupted Israeli tracking long enough for the ship to close in on Gaza’s coast.

➤ By mid-morning on October 2, flotilla trackers showed the Mikeno less than 9 nautical miles from shore—inside Gaza’s territorial waters. Social media videos from Gaza appeared to show the ship visible offshore, which GSF organizers hailed as a “show of bravery and determination.”

➤ *The interception*: After hours inside Palestinian waters, contact was lost due to presumed interception by Israeli naval forces amid the broader seizure of 40+ flotilla vessels. Still, activists say the Mikeno’s dash marked the closest approach in 16 years and a symbolic crack in the blockade wall.

🔴 Urgent | Spain threatens to respond to any Israeli action against the Global Sumud Flotilla

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said his country will respond to any Israeli action against the “Global Sumud Flotilla” heading to the Gaza Strip.

A press statement issued by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the minister affirmed that “Spain will respond to any action that violates freedom of movement, freedom of expression, and international law.”

Albares pointed to the peaceful and humanitarian nature of the initiative that set sail from Barcelona, noting that Madrid provides diplomatic and consular protection to all Spanish members of the flotilla.

The Foreign Minister also tasked the ambassador in Tunisia with investigating the circumstances of the recent drone attack on the flotilla’s ships in Tunisian waters.

Earlier, Spain, along with 16 other countries, issued a statement expressing concern for the safety of the flotilla participants and called for refraining from any illegal or violent acts against them.

A group of Palestinian bakers in Gaza break into the nostalgic song “وين أيامنا وين – Where Have Our Days Gone” as they bake bread together, trays sliding in and out and hands moving swiftly over dough. They sing of days long gone and memories that still linger.

I no longer go to the Indonesian hospital.
What foolishness it is, to speak of hospitals in a place where life is no longer preserved but merely postponed. Once, I believed, oh, how bitterly I believed, that the presence of a doctor among the dying was a sacred thing, a last stand against the void. But here, where the void has taken residence in the very walls, what can sanctity do?

The hospital is surrounded now. Not by men, not by soldiers even, but by machines. Drones, humming above like metallic locusts, devoid of soul or pity. They know neither suffering nor mercy, they are the purest expression of obedience without conscience. They circle the building like vultures circling a carcass not yet dead enough.

Two days ago, the ceiling collapsed.
A nurse had just spoken the word “hope.” Then came the blast, and the word hung in the air a moment too long before crumbling with the plaster. ICU monitors, those fragile gods of modern faith, shattered on the floor. One machine let out a long, wheezing beep as it died. It was the sound of resignation. I think I wept, but I cannot recall if it was with my eyes or only in my mind.

And this morning, yes, this morning, as if dawn itself had become ashamed, a drone struck the intensive care unit.
It came like a decision already made.
There was no warning, no negotiation, no fate to plead with.
Just fire.

Patients ran. Doctors ran. The hallway became a river of chaos, but silent, terrifyingly silent. One man dragged his son by the shoulders, blood smearing behind them like a signature of some unseen pact. Another woman collapsed, not from injury but from the sheer weight of choosing which of her children to carry.

Two patients were taken away in an ambulance, if that word still means anything. The rest had already passed into that cold stillness we now mistake for peace.

We still work at the clinic, though I no longer know if it's from duty or habit, or some grotesque need to perform life while surrounded by death. We whisper. We disinfect. We bind wounds that will open again. The scalpel, once a tool of healing, now feels like an accomplice.

At home, the walls speak in cracks. The roof sags under the pressure of memory. The air smells like dust and grief. My mother tapes the broken windows each day with the care of a priest dressing a corpse. My father rations rice with the reverence of a man offering communion.

But outside, outside, it never stops.
The bombing continues with the faithfulness of a priest at prayer.
It does not pause. It does not tire.
It beats like a heart possessed by something inhuman.

And now, the streets.
No, not streets, corridors of exile. Rows of tents like gravestones made of fabric. Children play in the ashes, unaware that they are survivors of a war not yet finished. The army says, Evacuate.
To where?
They do not say. Only: Leave. Disappear. Unbecome.

Famine grows near. But even hunger, with its gnawing cruelty, is familiar. Hunger is intimate. It is ours. What is worse, what is unbearable, is the silence that follows the blast. The silence in which you call a name and no one answers. The silence where meaning once lived.

This is not a war. It is annihilation dressed in the costume of procedure. It is a logic without soul, a godless arithmetic of bodies and coordinates.

And still, still, some whisper that God watches.
I do not know.
Sometimes I think He has turned His face away, not out of indifference, but out of shame.

But if you are reading this, if your eyes have reached these words like a boat reaching a shore you thought unreachable, then for the love of all things holy and damned:

Do not look away.

To look away is to become part of it.
To forget is to bury us before we are dead.
To remain silent is to drive the final nail.
