Sadly, this began before Fauci when Steve Rosenberg was on the cover of either TIME or NEWSWEEK magazine after operating on President Reagan (a really bad idea by Reagan, because he was more of a scientist than a surgeon, but a great scientist) and his work on Interleukin-2, which sadly turned out to be not the transformative cancer therapy as touted.
