Galgotias imported bot and the various fiasco around India AI Action Summit is a symptom of a larger national epidemic. Of pursuing optics over substance by key stakeholders, of window dressing everything for one exhibition behind which hides a huge lack of effort and rigor. Of our nations missions and conferences, public or private, being hijacked by sales & marketing teams than being led by technical teams. Where SVP Sales talk tech than CTO and Chief Scientists exchange ideas.
Where resellers set up shop to peddle software forks and services than innovators present and exchange ideas to further kindle interest at a fundamental level.
Where end applications and its cute use cases occupy the mindspace than segwaying into more deeper tech breakthroughs. Where 50+ yr old industry veterans occupy and award and pat each others in the back with needless “thought leadership gyaan”than the young and dynamic taking the stage by storm by demonstrating their breakthroughs and showing what’s in store for the future for the world.
It is not the govt stupid. This nation, sans few, is not serious. Wants to imitate poorly by organizing superficial copies of western and Chinese exhibitions where real stuff by real ppl happen. Here it is for Best Industry leader” award and “lifetime achievement” awards and for ET/CNBC-TV18 30 sec news bytes and for that customary LinkedIn update.

It’s a strange world where organic and farm fresh trend on Instagram, while actually fake milk, paneer, vegetables, fruits, and eggs and sold and consumed. First the air and water was unsafe and now food can’t be trusted. It’s a pathetic standard of living masked as developing society.

You can own a 2cr apartment, earn 50 lakh a year, drive an electric vehicle, and build cutting edge AI tools. But if you still can’t breathe clean air or eat real genuine food even after paying a premium for it, its very sad. I don't think packaging labels, influencer videos are going to help. And can't be dependent onparliamentary debates or news cycles to pretend things are being taken care.

If the people in authority can’t guarantee clean air, water, and unadulterated food, then everything else like GDP numbers, AI powers is of no good. We need to fix this. Human lives can't be just a trending topic.
