Earlier, ministers were saying that ethanol-blended fuel has no effect on mileage, but now, after public outrage, @nitin_gadkari has accepted that it reduces mileage.

We also want the nation to explore alternatives, but the alternative is EVs, not ethanol. Secondly, let all cars in the country first become ethanol-compliant, then introduce it in a phased manner. Why force people to use it? The price of ethanol-blended fuel must also be reduced. Work for the public, Mr. Gadkari, not for your son’s firm.
