A dog used to follow pilgrims to a Hindu religious site in Sri Lanka, and videos of it were shared warmly in Sri Lankan Hindu circles.
In late June, offended by the videos, a Muslim man went to the pilgrimage site, located the dog, kicked it, and uploaded the video, sparking outrage. During one such argument, a Sri Lankan Muslim wrote a derogatory post against the Hindu deity.
Anojan Sivarasa, a Sri Lankan Hindu working as a laborer in Saudi Arabia, didn't like the comment and responded with a reply that was allegedly derogatory to the Prophet.
Anojan's well-wisher immediately warned him. He took down the comment and issued a video apology within five minutes in which he said he was responding to an insult to his faith. However, it was too late. Anojan's fellow Sri Lankan Muslims had already taken a screenshot and emailed it to his employer in Saudi Arabia. His employer promptly reported it to the authorities, who arrested Anojan and put him on trial. He has been sentenced to death.
Saudi Arabia rarely reverses a decision once it has made one, but there should be global outrage over this. Blasphemy laws or whatever, the man was only responding to an insult to his faith, deleted the comment, and issued an apology within minutes, yet he will still have to pay with his life while those who provoked him are rejoicing in Sri Lanka. This is unacceptable. Anyone calling themselves a free speech supporter and not opposing this is a hypocrite of the highest order.
why aren’t the robots working in the mines and oil fields and handling toxic chemicals or picking plastic out of the ocean? why are they writing emails and making powerpoint presentations? what the hell are we doing
Mangaluru’s railways are finally coming under one roof!
A long-pending demand is being fulfilled as the Mangaluru railway region, currently divided across Southern & South Western Railways, is being brought under South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division.
This gives me a great sense of contentment, especially because this is a demand we raised as a priority within days of taking oath as your MP in June 2024.
Since then, we have pursued it relentlessly - taking it up repeatedly with our Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw, whose proactive engagement and responsiveness in taking forward this long-pending demand I deeply appreciate. We have also used every available parliamentary and institutional forum to highlight the concern and press for its expeditious resolution.
This is a significant step for Mangaluru - reducing jurisdictional hurdles, improving coordination, enabling faster resolution of passenger concerns and giving greater focus to railway infrastructure and connectivity across coastal Karnataka.
With the formal notification expected soon, we will be better placed to address many of our railway-related concerns and, most importantly, enable Mangaluru’s railways to move faster on the tracks of Vikas.
Grateful to our Government led by PM Shri @narendramodi, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and MoS Shri @VSOMANNA_BJP for making this possible.

In the 1940s, at the University of Chicago, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar taught an advanced astrophysics seminar.
Enrollment: two students.
That is not a typo. Two.
Most people would see that as a failure low turnout, empty seats, a quiet room.
But those two students were Chen Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao Lee.
In 1957, both won the Nobel Prize in Physics for their groundbreaking work on parity nonconservation in weak interactions.
A class of two. Two future Nobel laureates.
It may have been one of the smallest graduate courses in history, but it was certainly one of the most successful.
Sometimes greatness does not need a crowd. It just needs a room, a mind on fire, and students ready to catch the spark.

The German Chancellor landed in Bengaluru, yet both CM @siddaramaiah and DCM @dkshivakumar chose to be at Mysuru airport to receive Rahul Gandhi. Cabinet Minister MB Patil had to step in to receive the head of foreign government - a clear departure from protocol and a squandered opportunity to represent Karnataka on the world stage.
This is what political insecurity looks like. Congress leaders are more focused on signalling loyalty to the high command than on governance, diplomacy, or attracting global partnerships.
Misplaced priorities
Missed opportunities
Today, the German Federal Chancellor visited Karnataka - a moment of immense diplomatic, economic and strategic significance for our state.
Any other responsible Chief Minsiter would have personally ensured that such a visit was accorded the seriousness it deserved - as an opportunity for investment, industry, employment and long-term growth for Karnataka.
But look at the situation today.
While the German Chancellor landed in Bengaluru, Chief Minister @siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister @DKShivakumar chose to be in Mysuru to receive @RahulGandhi, who was merely transiting to Ooty.
Let that sink in.
❌ Welcoming the head of state from one of the world’s strongest economies was relegated to the back seat.”
✅Political loyalty and “high command pleasing” took priority over Karnataka’s global standing.
This is not just bad optics - it reflects a deep disregard for the state’s interests.
Karnataka deserves leadership that puts the state before the party, state's progress before power politics, and global opportunities before political appeasement.
Karnataka deserves better.

In the earlier days, when banks conducted direct recruitment, the staff working in Karnataka’s banks were largely Kannadigas. They understood the language, the people, and the culture and served customers effectively.
But once recruitment shifted to the IBPS system, everything changed. The number of Kannadigas getting selected dropped drastically. The reason? IBPS changed its rules in a way that disfavored local candidates.
From 2012 onwards, when regional rural banks (RRBs) also came under IBPS, new rules were quietly introduced to block local representation. By 2014, these rules were completely structured to exclude locals from recruitment. This opened the doors for outsiders to flood into Karnataka’s banks, taking jobs that rightfully belonged to Kannadigas.
As this injustice grew, Kannadigas began to protest. Leaders across political parties both in Parliament and the state raised their voices. But despite all the discussions and verbal assurances from the Finance Ministry, no actual amendment has been made to the IBPS policy.
Every time the Finance Minister says locals should get preference in banks, BJP and its supporters start cheering but celebration without reform means nothing. These are just empty words unless they lead to concrete rule changes in IBPS recruitment.
The truth is simple:
✅ Unless the IBPS recruitment policy is amended, Kannadigas will continue to be denied fair opportunities in their own land.
✅ Real justice will come not from speeches, but from policy correction.
If we want Kannadigas to work in Karnataka’s banks again, we must fight to change the IBPS rules not settle for hollow promises by Nirmala Seetharaman

Bought a Sari at a prominent store in Coimbtore. At billing counter, they asked my mobile number, which I refused to give.
They said, they can't bill without number.
I said - Fine. I will not buy.
As I started walking out the sales lady said, I will give my number to bill & this is how the purchase happened.
Why is the mobile number capture mandatory? This was something I could walk away with, this could have been food, medicine or something really important.
