@stevenstrogatz Sir, I am intrigued as to how you sent the letter with all the corrections as-is. From my point of view, that needs a lot of self confidence. I would have re-written it as sending with so many strikeouts and corrections would have made me feel insecure in my own abilities
"The argument is far simpler. If you want a luxury club, build it on private land, pay market price and run it with your own money. What is unacceptable and what should have been ended long ago, is the use of government land and public resources to subsidise the lifestyle of people who need no subsidy." Writes @roypranesh

Very interesting to see both points of view on Gymkhana Club debate. Broadly, if it’s public lands, membership should not be for the entitled babus and plutocrats alone. Private clubs can do that.
@bhaumikgowande You are off the point. It’s simply that who pays for it.
Let the users pay market rate for the land and services and they are welcome.
Else, they do not have the right to use it.
It’s a simple argument.
Those who have the resources can make their exclusive zones themselves.
@bainjal Madam it’s not about merit and hard work. It’s about who funds it.
The marriage halls mentioned by you are cringe worth but are privately funded.
Why the taxpayer has no say in where his/ her money gets used?
Elites are welcome to pay for any place at market rate and enjoy it.
@MithraInvictus No taxpayer paid for Bukhara in ITC.
And still, it’s actually open for all. It’s costly but not closed for public.
You can’t compare a private entity with a tax payer funded one.
@ambkcsingh Sir, when I am paying for something, but am not allowed inside, how is it justifiable?
Yes, govt offices/ defence buildings need restricted entry, the taxpayer understands that.
But if the public in general is not affluent, why the bureaucracy is entitled to clubs?
In the “Engineering” domains, computer coding was the easiest work you can do. (Now with AI, the effort has gone to zero)
Check with any civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical engineer what real work feels like.
Backend/ CSS are two side of the same children’s game 🙂
Trump mocked accent of an Indian Journalist.
Trump: "I wish you would speak more clearly. Big tax? Big tech? BIG TECH? It's BIG TECH."
His supporters on internet are too happy about it.
Modi did the right thing by calling him Do-Land Trump and I hope he does it again.
