That we are forced to endure people blasting music over such moments of national significance is indicative of our wider problem. It is - quite obviously - preposterously antisocial and rude, but we just allow it to continue with a shrug as if there is nothing we can do about it.
Challenges and barriers remain against Turkish - EU defence industry partnership but in contrast, there are many opportunities for bilateral cooperation. With my comments on @Reuters
Over the past 25 years, Türkiye has grown its missile sector to include ballistic and cruise weaponry, with most types introduced into service with the Turkish Armed Forces.
The country’s political leadership has long backed this sector of the defence industry, with increasingly long-range weapons supporting deterrence with a conventional deep-strike capability. The Cenk is the latest example of broader research-and-development work that covers not only ballistic- but also cruise-missile projects.

Türkiye has transformed its guided-weapons sector, developing an increasingly capable portfolio of ballistic and cruise missiles driven by regional threats and broader defence-industrial ambitions.

New Military Balance 2026 came out yesterday @IISS_org: as usual it's going to be my bible for the year to come. Among the many striking data: China + Russia defense spending in PPP outmatch the US for the first time
NEW: The rate of rearmament on continental Europe is “significantly faster and more rapid” than it is in the UK as the threat from Russia continues to increase, according to @IISS_org military balance https://t.co/RCS5Kmd88q
China has significantly increased its nuclear-powered-submarine production rate over the last five years (2021–25) while at the same time expanding its shipbuilding facilities.
While Chinese designs almost certainly lag behind US and European boats in terms of quality, the greater numbers in the water present a growing challenge to those countries as they struggle to increase their own output.

I think one of the boats in question is in fact an older Type 09IV that went back to the yard for refit. That said, at least one new boat could be plausible given recent noise in relevant reporting.
The observations for Type 09IIIB & now Type 09V tally with other observations.
Interesting write-up by IISS suggesting Bohai "almost certainly" launched one new Type 09IV SSBN in 2024 and 2025 respectively. The CMPR in 2024 suggested renewed production for the type. Some assumptions remain circumstantial, due to the figure of observed boats.
China has rapidly expanded its nuclear-powered-submarine production, surpassing US launch numbers and tonnage in the period 2021–25.
Although qualitative differences compared with US and European designs persist, the increasing number of Chinese submarines presents a growing challenge for Western countries struggling to expand their own production.

There is a fundamental requirement in any Indian combat aircraft competition: stamina.
Delhi may be about to pass separate milestones for two key air force programmes, both of which are, by some measures, more than a decade late. While further delays cannot be ruled out, threat developments may be prompting activity.

Well done @lewis_goodall on holding @SteveReedMP to account in the revelation that leasehold in fact, will NOT be abolished in this parliament.
As a Labour member that campaigned for leasehold abolition to help numerous MP’s into parliament for the full 6 weeks unpaid - I feel utterly deceived by this.
Leasehold will continue past 2029, in a violation of the Labour Party manifesto pledge.
Ground rent cap is good news (though peppercorn would be better straight away). Also welcome is promised abolition of new leasehold properties. Better still would be the outright abolition of leasehold altogether, a feudal anachronism virtually unique to England and Wales.
