I Told You Not to Look, my latest story, is out now in this horror x crime anthology from the stalwart @HOWL_Society. An LAPD detective gets more than he bargains for in search for a cursed book. Blood + gore + weird + representation + humor.
HOWLS FROM THE SCENE OF THE CRIME is now available! Edited by @of_ichor and @JessicaPeter1 and with a foreword by @cinapelayo, it features stories by @okokno, @Buehlmeister, @ashesandmochi, Gwendolyn Kiste, and members of the HOWL Society.
Dare you investigate?
I’m on the LA Metro Red Line trying to get to Union Station. The train has been stopped in the pitch black tunnel now for about 20 minutes. The driver doesn’t know what’s happening. I haven’t seen a train go the opposite direction. So … zombies, right?
@sillysyntax Yeah, I don’t speak my mom’s native language. So? Third culture kid, I guess. I don’t like OP’s take, because there is shame in saying that you will never know your culture if you don’t speak the language. No need to rub that in. It’s not our fault. Diaspora can be beautiful.
@JoyceCarolOates It’s figurative language. Mood-setting. Anthropomorphic. Mythical. Out-of-context as a single sentence. Non-literal. Like in your wonderful writing!
