In 2 Samuel 12, David delivered his sentence without realizing that he was the rich man in Nathan’s story. Similarly, we often issue our own sentence as we judge others. James (4:12) reminds us that “there is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who’s able to save and destroy.”

In 2 Sam 11, David's actions shows the danger of following one's feelings instead of God's direction. His acts of adultery & murder had severe consequences on his legacy as king. The world tells us to follow our hearts, but following Jesus is the safest way to avoid destruction.

David never missed an opportunity to mourn the loss of a friend. He mourns the death of Samuel, Saul, Jonathan, Abner and others. Now it’s the turn of the king of the Ammonites In 2 Samuel 10.
