Elect a clown, expect a circus.
This is exactly what Goa is witnessing under its so-called Health Minister. I have just a few direct points — because common sense and medical sense both seem to be absent from the minister’s brain.
1.Vitamin B12 is NOT a medical emergency.
You don’t need an MBBS to know this — even an AI can tell you. It takes 8–10 years of rigorous medical training to understand what an actual emergency is. So stop pretending you know medicine just because you hold a post.
https://t.co/shUxZ6Gazs told a doctor to “put down the mask”?
Are you even aware that COVID cases are again on the rise? Asking a frontline doctor to remove a mask inside the EMERGENCY WARD — during duty hours — is not just irresponsible, it’s CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE. Do you want another outbreak?
https://t.co/sZcUix03Pj. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are you listening?
Your Health Minister is undermining your public health efforts and embarrassing your government. Is this the kind of minister you want representing you? If you keep promoting such illiterate loudmouths, be prepared to face electoral consequences. Doctors are a huge vote bank. And we don’t forget humiliation.
4.Entering Emergency with a camera crew? Who the hell gave him that right?
This is not Bigg Boss. This is a hospital. You’re not a hero; you’re a hazard. Emergency departments are sacred spaces of care — not reels for your political stunts.
⸻
Enough is enough.
Stop humiliating doctors. Stop playing politics with healthcare.
And for God’s sake — send your ministers to school before you send them to hospitals.

*25-year-old stabs doctor at Chennai hospital, four detained*
The doctor has been admitted to the hospital’s ICU with serious stab wounds.
CHENNAI: A doctor, Balaji Jaganathan, who was in his Oncology department, was stabbed by a man posing as a patient around 10.15am.
The accused, aged around 26, tried to escape from the hospital but was chased and nabbed by the fellow hospital staff and handed over to the Guindy police station. The details of the detained suspect were not revealed by the police.

"Do whatever you can, but do not offer me hope," spoke the moustached man sitting in front of me. He was in his late 30s. Some distance behind him was his son, crying in a muted tone.
"Is it going to be cancer?" he asked.
"I can't say... only when we take it out can we conclude"
"But you must be knowing... you must have some idea!"
I sat silently.
"Tell me whatever the truth is— in the other hospital told me it is a Grade 4 tumour, he won't survive. They did 2 surgeries and the biopsy did not show anything. They are saying it is an unreachable tumour. Do you also feel the same?"
"Well.."
"I am prepared for the worst. Just tell me."
"Well, if we were tk go by the shape and size and the way it shows on an MRI... it does look like a high grade brain tumour."
"So there is no use removing it?"
"Well, it is worth removing it... but it just prolongs the inevitable.."
"But will it– will it reduce his pain, his suffering... what he is going through right now?"
"It.. it should, but then it will return and well.."
Teary eyed he signed up the consent form for his surgery.
That went well. Really well The boy became better day by day.
His father prayed in front of the Ganesh idol everyday. We saw him meditating early mornings and late nights. There was an unexplainable strength in his prayers.
The biopsy report came.
He fetched it from the counter and came to me running...
"Doctor, doctor... it is Grade 1!!"
I thought he must be mistaken. Or maybe he got the wrong report.
But he wasn't wrong. It was indeed a Grade I tumour.
We were surprised, pleasantly surprised.
We were happy. We congratulated the family.
"So, now it's gone, right? It will never come back..?"
"Well, maybe not NEVER, but there is a just miniscule chance...."
"Yes, yes, I am happy, I am SO happy."
If he had the chance, he would have danced.
Days went by, so did nights The boy began to speak a few words. He began walking with support. All was well!
I was the one who had got the call . Early morning 3 a.m., the boy's dressing had become wet.
Darn the CSF leak!
The patient was taken to the Procedure Room. I saw the wound. Small gape at the lower end. Leak was quite evident. Cleaned the area, took a stitched, dressed it well.
Next day, another doctor on duty. Another leak. From another site. Another stitch. We midified medications.
Another day, another leak. Put in a lumbar drain.
Boy became drowsy, stopped talking, stopped walking....
Fever.
Damn.
No, just no.
Meningitis.
Treatment started. Patient back to ICU.
Days and days, weeks and weeks. Fever subsided.
Another leak.
....
Leak stopped somehow.
Patient improved.
Began walking again
Began talking again
Yay!
Lumbar drain removed.
Antibiotics stepped down.
Ready to go home—
Patient became unconscious.
Shifted to ICU.
4 a.m.
CT showed hydrocephalus.
EVD inserted.
Next day a VP Shunt put in.
Surgery went well. Patient improved.
Became conscious, could walk. Could not talk but okay.. will improve..
Fever.
Shit, shit, shit.....
"Oh God, if I have ever done you any wrong, please forgive me. And if my sins have been so bad and you cannot forgive me; please... pkease forgive my son "
He had broken down into tears in front of the idol of God. His soft sobs the only sound in the grave silence that even the odd cricket had dared not disturb.
The patient was put on and then weaned off the ventilator. The future seemed bleak. We kept explaining a guarded prognosis. Sometimes he would wake up, sometimes he was in that deep sleep thinking of what we know not.
And if there were one true thing among all that was going on, was that the boy was suffering.
I had woken up early that morning, got out of my room. I hadn't been on duty the previous night. And I had seen him... the father, standing there like he always did.
But he was not praying. He was not crying.
I went to him.
"What... happened?" I asked him.
I had not yet read the other doctor's notes, and feared (contd)
While most students know medicine is tough, they may not realise exactly how tough it is - until they join. Being a class topper would have made them feel good - but they have never been in a class full of class toppers. MBBS is like an uphill rat race - with a few bandicoots thrown in.
Students whose sense of self worth is tied to marks or their relative position in the class, would struggle to get adjusted to the new reality - that they are no longer special. To make matters worse, literally no one gives a rat's ass about how they feel.
MBBS is demanding. While it's not fashionable to admit, it's brutal. Some may even call it "ableist". It's not for the weak hearted or fickle minded. There's no point in shielding students from this truth - the sooner they learn it, the better it is.
I see a worrying trend in Hyderabad. All I see are eateries, right from roadside stalls to swanky restaurants.
People have slowly stopped cooking !!! No wonder, metabolic disorders are on the rise.
Cooking and nutrition classes should be made mandatory subjects in school.
Today in long case surgery viva, external asked me,do you know any hernia surgery recently invented by an Indian using mosquito net as mesh?
