@LBRUT Millions wasted on an unnecessary refurbishment of the town hall, millions wasted on the Twickenham Riverside Development, and the amount spent on councillors' allowances has more than doubled.
@LBRUT A vanity award for one of Britain’s most extreme councils.
Richmond pursues ever more loopy climate policies while struggling with the basics: dirty streets, graffiti and deteriorating roads and pavements.
Residents need competent services, not self-congratulation.
@LBRUT Move over Brighton! Richmond is coming for the crown of Britain’s looniest council.
A doomsday approach to climate change, endless targets and ideology before practicality. “Green Council of the Year” indeed.

@TRLibDems@sarahjolney1 “Delighted”? Sarah Olney has recorded a vote in only around 70% of the Commons divisions for which she was eligible. Why have Richmond Park Liberal Democrats reselected an MP with such a poor voting attendance record?
@TRLibDems A successful Conservative initiative, later rolled out in #Richmond.
The Lib Dems’ record must be pretty thin if they have resorted to misinformation, presenting a Conservative initiative as their own.
Residents deserve facts, not rewritten history.
@TRLibDems No, Work Match was not a #LibDem initiative
It was launched by Conservative-run Wandsworth Council in 2013. Richmond and Wandsworth later formed a joint staffing structure, and the scheme was extended to Richmond in 2020
@Gareth_Roberts_@SimonPrindy@LBRUT But note they operate a modern committee system where only key decsions go before them.
There is no scrutiny commitee and no call in power for the other decisions - so a vast aray of council actions cannot be scrutinised.
@BBCLondonNews Richmond Council is also very unusual for not having a scrutiny committee.
Only a handful of key decisions go before a committee. The majority of decsions are made in private and never get scrutinised.

@PriyaSamuel1@Gareth_Roberts_ Richmond Council is also very unusual in not having a scrutiny committee
Its hybrid committee/lead member system means that only key decisions go before the committee - most decsions made in private and cannot be scrutinised

@monicabeharding Monica Harding’s voting participation so far is lower than Dominic Raab’s in three of his four Parliaments, which is an awkward record for a party that campaigned so loudly on showing up.
@monicabeharding Monica Harding has taken part in only around 61 per cent of Commons divisions since her election.
There may be explanations for individual absences, but voters are entitled to ask whether Esher and Walton is getting the parliamentary presence it was promised.
@TRLibDems “Richmond Housing Grant” sounds generous, but it is largely developer money paid because affordable housing was not delivered on other private sites.
So the real question is not just what Ham Close gains, but how many affordable homes Richmond lost elsewhere to create this pot
@ChrisKe75868138@ConservativeFhh The LibDems have created a gravey train for themselves - and have created more paid roles for their councillors than nearly all other councils in London
@MertonLibDems I see that the LibDem Leader of Richmond Council @Gareth_Roberts_ is retweeting this - but refuses to fund police bases in his own borough
Typical LibDem hypocracy
@TRLibDems@AlexanderEhmann The real question is why the council is still mainly boasting about lamp-post chargers rather than delivering a stronger network of proper, reliable charging hubs.
@TRLibDems@AlexanderEhmann Theresa May’s Government made zero-emission vehicles a national priority, and councils across London have since rolled out very similar lamp-post charging schemes. It just the local delivery of a Conservative-backed national programme
