@twickerman@RadnorBridge Report said both options should be considered further. We agree. Value assessment & public response were marginally in favour of Bridge 15, hence our position. Isn't the best approach to agree to campaign for that work to be done, and coalesce around the outcome of that?
@RadnorBridge@twickerman SWLEN (@richenvironment) are a respected environmental group, and their arguments on habitats should be engaged with rather than being dismissed as "bias". Not sure your suggestion that significant numbers would drive to a car-free bridge is realistic.
@smaryka@RadnorBridge We, and presumably @RadnorBridge, are self-funded in terms of campaigning. No doubt any bridge would need public capital investment - although the consultants' report is clear that either option would amply justify such investment.
We've launched our campaign website for a new pedestrian & #cycling bridge between #Ham and #Twickenham. Click to find out more and support us: https://t.co/9SqbB3k6mx
@twickerman@RadnorBridge 3/3 The Radnor option has met significant objections from environmental groups (https://t.co/WfZM0fL6Xo). If these can be overcome with evidence, great. But as it stands, it means planning approval is unlikely. Ferries can be relocated, whereas habitats like Ham Lands cannot.
@twickerman@RadnorBridge 1/3 We're campaigning for a bridge between Twickenham and Ham, so it's an ideal name. We have a preferred option but are not dogmatic about it.
@RadnorBridge Wish you luck with your campaign, #RadnorBridge. You're doing it for the right reasons, just that there's a better option nearby: https://t.co/JFc5ALXReN
@RadnorBridge Hi #RadnorBridge. We're ultimately on the same side... all about making cycling and walking attractive options to get to the work, schools and shops. But several reasons why Bridge 15 in #LBRUT process (Ham car park to corner of Orleans Gardens) is better on balance:
@RadnorBridge Hammerton's Ferry obviously an issue for Bridge 15. But can it be beyond #LBRUT to make a place for it around redeveloped Riverside or Radnor Gardens? It's great but - operating only half the year and not before 10am or after 6pm - it's more for leisure than everyday use.
@RadnorBridge 5/5 Ham Car Park, where Bridge 15 would land, is quite near where the bulk of people in Ham live. Ham Lands less so, and not ideal in the evenings/early mornings.
@RadnorBridge 4/5 Same feasibility study says 1000 more daily cycle and pedestrian trips with #TwicknHamBridge (Bridge 15). And it diverts twice as many trips from the narrow and congested Richmond Bridge - #RadnorBridge takes mainly from the imperfect but safe dual-use Teddington footbridge.
@RadnorBridge 3/5 According to #LBRUT feasibility study, both Bridges 13 and 15 create public value... but Bridge 15 creates more. https://t.co/p67JRgfvoT
@RadnorBridge 2/5 #TwicknHamBridge (Bridge 15) opens up Twickenham Station rather than Strawberry Hill. At least three times as many trains, many of them fast rather than Kingston loop trains. Also more bus routes.
