i wonder if it's considered unfair to have "Gun that Won the West" after the winchester 1873. that's like the 1868 election putting grant's name followed by "The Man who Saved the Union"
the median voter is so funny man. they think that there's some magic covenant created when an october political promise is made that renders it unbreakable
they need some way to show off the ostentatious wealth they're accumulating, but since data centers abstract away nearly all human input and output the best anthropomorphization they can come up with is a dancing disco ball
FDR was literally a fascist. He admired Mussolini, by the way.
“There seems to be no question that Mussolini is really interested in what we are doing and I am much interested and deeply impressed by what he has accomplished and by his evidenced honest purpose of restoring Italy and seeking to prevent general European trouble.” -FDR (June, 1933)
wild thread. i did not in a hundred years expect this book to be nearly this fascinating based on the cover. the marketing team really fucked the author on this one
Okay I just finished the book and what the hell this lady is fucking insane.
In short, Elizabeth becomes obsessed with Laura Kim for getting into Harvard and so starts studying her. WEIRD
First it started with tracking what Laura eats, her habits, where she shops and what she wears and how she presents herself socially etc
She’s convinced that if she can copy Laura, then Harvard would want her
Then Elizabeth goes and makes up a fake high school student called Suzie Ehrlich and emails Laura asking her to help with her uni application essay, which sets off the crazy ticking bomb in her head even more because she CANNOT stand Laura. Laura is giving her feedback while Elizabeth is on the other side of her laptop literally seething. Blood in her eyes.
So what does she do? (1/2)
