@Manach_38@bwags Bro saw one person with 12 followers and an anime pfp say this…
Pretty sure majority of Mets fans want Pete back. Just some of them don’t need to chant “Fire Stearns” and understand the business side of baseball
The Marlins have 79 wins and are 14 games back in the NL East.
The Orioles have 79 wins and are 18½ games back in the AL East.
The Astros and Rangers have 79 wins and are tied for first in the AL West.
I can’t picture Mets baseball without hearing Howie’s voice in my head. The iconic calls, the understanding of l what Mets fans were feeling, all of it. I just wish you got to call one Mets World Series because no one deserved it more. Enjoy retirement, I’ll miss you in the booth
You guys remember when Citi Field gave Vladdy a standing ovation because they wanted him to be our 1B for the future while Pete was standing at 1st? I remember that.
@Virg_nyfl I remember! I also remember fans wanting Pete to be traded for a bag of balls in 2024 during the deadline. This is why the vocal minority on here don’t represent the majority of Mets fans that actually can just be happy with Pete and his milestone, give him his due and move on
@ProfYoshima The Polanco thing and telling people to be yanks fans I don’t agree with but everything else yes. Have to remember if it were up to these fans, Alonso and McNeil would have been gone in 2024 deadline, Diaz would have been back, and Tucker would be playing RF (to name a small few)
@HoffWFAN And this is just to name a very small amount over the last couple of years. Hindsight is 20/20 but it’s ridiculous to get mad at a front office that actually tries and spends compared to previous ownership…
@HoffWFAN Can we stop with this? If we listened to these “fans,” we would have traded Alonso and McNeil during the deadline in 24, we would have resigned Diaz, would have went all in on Kyle Tucker, and would have kept Nimmo and prevented Ewing/Benge from playing time for the next 5 years
Literally can’t help but just laugh. All offseason I Mets fans told me that they would be contenders while the Yankees struggle and miss the playoffs 😂😂
Enjoy October from the couch while we win it all😂😂
We offered Pete fair market value. The orioles offered Pete more than fair market value. We didn’t want to spend that much on a guy who’s getting up there in age, especially when a lockout seems to be happening next year. As much as I hated to see him leave, I understand the move
"When it comes to letting Pete Alonso go, it can be argued that the Mets were too calculating. That they didn't properly appreciate Alonso's value beyond his bat - his connection to the fans, his ability to play nearly every game nearly every season, and his understanding of what it took to play and deal with the scrutiny in New York."
As Pete Alonso returns to Citi Field tonight, the Mets' biggest what-if stares them in the face (via @DannyAbriano) https://t.co/Do0G8aqhLD
@jacschwatzman@BarrettsGoat made moves, just didn’t pan out. This was also year five of blowing up the pieces around the core and building. Sometimes you just have to do a hard reset
@jacschwatzman@BarrettsGoat not knowing how to manage a bullpen. In no way should stanek have been our most used arm. We tried to get big talent at the deadline with soto, rogers and helsley and also addressed the injuries and failings of the SP by bringing up tong sproat and McLean. We had depth and we
