@kellyelliottmcm@JoshMorganLDN@ElizabethPeloza If raising taxes is what it takes to wake up an apathetic voter base, then maybe that needs to happen? Short term pain, longterm gain? You could target taxes to the highest value properties to avoid hardship to the lowest levels of the base.
@kellyelliottmcm@JoshMorganLDN@ElizabethPeloza I love these analyses of municipal politics - thank you. Here's a question - at what point do officials make decisions based on what will get results and not based on election outcomes? Someone, somewhere, has to put the public first, even if it means losing the next election.
@costcocanada get some parking attendants or intelligent parking lots or *something*, for god's sake. Maybe raise the price of hotdogs .25 to make it possible.
@JulieMCTaylor@ambermac Services by their nature are usually not for profit. Hospitals, roads, schools, firefighters, police... all of these are valuable services that don't fund themselves. They're investments in society.
@JulieSLalonde This video is horrible but so is your broad smear. My father knows all these answers. So does my partner. We rarely sensationalize good news. A video of committed fathers knowing these answers would not go viral.
@drquinngyn Question - is there a risk that BC will alter a young teen's development? When will IUD insertion be offered with pain control, esp for this population?
We started our campaign believing in you – the people of Manitoba.
And in return, so many of you put your faith in us. You came out to support us – some for the very first time. You made calls & knocked doors. You voted.
From the bottom of my heart – Thank you. Merci. Miigwech.
@PaulSeale2 @BooksYarnLogic I'm a HUGE proponent of recovery. But not everyone who is homeless needs addiction recovery. These are two separate issues. Furthermore, addiction is aggravated by trauma and stress. People need to be safe first.
@EdKrassen Tipping has gotten ridiculous. I was recently asked to tip for a canoe rental delivery- suggested options were 18%, 20%, 25%. I *paid* for the delivery! There was a delivery fee! And the tip is on the rental fee + the delivery fee combined. Geez Louise.
Fourteen years ago, when the big three automakers were struggling to stay afloat, my administration and the American people stepped in to support them. So did the auto workers in the UAW who sacrificed pay and benefits to help get the companies back on their feet. Now that our carmakers are enjoying robust profits, it’s time to do right by those same workers so the industry can emerge more united and competitive than ever.
