@d4nielpark Yeah I moved to London in 2021, just got back to Toronto a month ago and was pleasantly surprised that even with 5 years of inflation, rental rates are the same (if not a bit lower) than when I left. Much cheaper than London as well obviously.
@muheediva01 Until my late teens, the only restaurant I’d ever been to where you paid after the meal (not before, like fast food) was a crappy greasy-spoon diner. I genuinely thought it was a pretty nice, mid-range restaurant because it was my only frame of reference for paying post-eating.
@languagetalk@femalepencil Whoever you know are definitely the outliers. I lived in London for 5 years and WhatsApp is very much the default messaging app for everyone I ever met.
@DFrankcom I see you’re in a hotel, so they likely add an auto-grat (automatic gratuity) to account for guests from non-tipping cultures. Servers may not point it out because if someone’s confused, they might end up double-tipping. The pen is because the US’ POS systems are archaic.
