Today, we celebrated No One Eats Alone Day at Sam Brannan. This event is an effort to ensure that middle school students feel recognized and connected in the classroom, and with each other. It was inspiring to see all the students who stopped by have a great time.
@BowsandSparrows Hi Erin. The short answer is: it could start as early as August 19, 2024. We may not be able to confirm this for a while, but I would plan around that date just in case. More details on my Facebook: https://t.co/46g8AEplp3
It has been my pleasure to represent Area 6 on the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education for the past year! This next year will be critical to cementing the changes in our district that I have secured so far, and I'm here for the work.
We have a tentative agreement with @SacTeachers! We agreed to significant pay increases for all educators, respecting the people who make our schools run and helping us fill vacancies. This supports the proposition that we are a destination to work in and to send your kids to.

My grandfather worked in the fields 18 hours a day, but the most important thing he cultivated was unity. It’s a force so powerful it can lift a kid like me from a farmworker’s house to Speaker of the California State Assembly.
This long needed improvement is finally coming! Highways 41 and 46 are the primary way to get from the central valley to the central coast without going through San Jose. From someone who used to drive from Sacramento to SLO quite a bit to visit family, I'm glad to see this.
I had a great time evaluating Sophomore and Senior Defense of Learning presentations at Sacramento New Technology High School. These students walked us through their projects and discussed their career plans. I was impressed by what I saw!
Thank you to @officialSCUSD New Tech HS Principal Martin for inviting me to panel for the Senior ‘Defense of Learning’ presentations.
These students reflect & defend on their skills and performance during this senior year.

@Feminizzzm The porta potty explosion near Lake Greenhaven recently was crazy. I wasn't sure if a truck had crashed into one of my neighbors houses, a plane missed the strip at Executive, a tree came down in my yard, or what. Glad this will be coming to an end.
Taylor Kayatta, '12, won a seat on the Sacramento City Unified School District Governing Board. Kayatta is a deputy county counsel in Sutter County. #McGeorgeProud

Honored to be invited by @EvanMMinton a National Leader for our Transgender community to the Press Conference supporting #Transgender Day of Visibility. The time is now to invest in their future- Celebrate their successes & demand a stop to all hate & discrimination. I see u
I was proud to stand in strong support of Sacramento's trans students and community members in raising the trans flag at our district office for the first time and voting for a resolution that strengthens our already strong commitments to ensuring all are welcome and supported.
Sac City Unified staff partnered with LGBTQ+ advocates to create a Board Resolution and organize a flag raising event to better support our transgender staff, students and community members and formally recognize the week leading up to March 31 as Trans Week of Visibility. 🏳️⚧️
Set your calendar for one week from today! Sac City Unified will be holding a community fair and Wide Open Walls painting at John Cabrillo Elementary. In addition to taking in the live art, you can grab a meal, get a gift card for a COVID test, hit up the makers mart, and more.
Save the date for another SCUSD Community Fair featuring Wide Open Walls artists painting the walls of John Cabrillo Elementary on Saturday, March 18 from 12-4pm!
It's time to fix our schools. I'm running for Sac City School Board as an attorney and former state auditor who has the tools to do so. Check out more at https://t.co/ysgfWJGuGu.
This article from Inside Sacramento perfectly captures why I am running for school board and why I think I can turn things around to help our kids and our community. Please take a look and then share widely.
