I reckon this game is going to be absolute carnage.
The meeting earlier in the season had eight cards, with both sides receiving four each, and now the stakes are even higher as they're both playing for a spot in the automatic promotion places.
A win for Millwall would leapfrog them from 4th to 2nd, knocking Boro down into the play-offs.
Millwall have committed the most fouls in the entire Championship (506), averaging 13.0 per game with 1.95 cards per 90. Boro are great for drawing cards, with opponents receiving 2.31 cards per 90.
Boro do have the best discipline in the league (1.54 cards per game), but the previous meeting shows these averages can go out the window given the context.
The referee, Anthony Backhouse, has given out the most yellow cards in the Championship this season (96), averaging 4.57 per game in the league and 4.39 across his entire career.
Boro 2+ cards @ 1.83 feels generous, and it landed in their last game against 3rd-place Ipswich, a similar sort of situation.
I think the bookies are pricing this purely off averages and recent form, rather than the occasion, which I feel plays a much bigger role. It's more of a punt, but even 3+ @ 3.90 is tempting.
Millwall pick up cards regardless of the opposition or occasion. With them committing the most fouls in the league, their prices are a little short, but I can see more value in backing match cards instead.
Looking at cards drawn by Boro: 1, 1, 3, 2, 3, 2, 2, 3
In short, it's a huge battle for the automatic promotion spots. This game had eight cards last time, Millwall commit the most fouls in the league, and the referee has issued the most yellows this season. I'm expecting plenty of cards.
18+, gamble responsibly.
🚨 Ibrahima Konaté tells ESPN: “We bring new players, we will adapt, we will try to understand each other and at a point, with time, we will win a trophy”.
“We will have success and when we win the Premier League or Champions League, people will forget every bad season we had because now we won the league last season”.
“This is just part of the success and we have to be relaxed because we have amazing fans, we have to stay together, and the success will come for sure”.
🚨 Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta plays down reports on Barcelona move suggested during the elections process.
“We have a lot of respect and admiration for Barcelona, but there hasn't been any contact whatsoever — with Erling Haaland or with Barcelona's management, regarding potential transfer targets”.
“Also, because the player renewed his contract a few months ago, he's very happy at Manchester City”.
“Everything is going very well for him and we really have nothing to discuss about a transfer when everything is so good at City”, told @elchiringuitotv@marcosbenito9.
