A man of his age and experience sat down with a young man whose style dey completely different from wetin he is used to.

He matched the energy, played along and showed Nigerians another side of himself.

And who helped make that connection happen?

Fada believed in the young people behind that show enough to pull Baba into their space.

That one get lesson inside.

To the older generation: don’t only tell young people to succeed.
Give them room.
Open doors. Recommend them.
Trust them with opportunities.

To the younger generation: don’t wait for somebody to hand you a future.
Build something worth believing in.
When opportunity comes, be ready.

Because sometimes, all a young person needs is one person with influence to say:

“I believe in what you are doing. Go ahead.”

And sometimes, all an older person needs is the willingness to say:

“Let me enter your world and see what you are building.”

When generations support each other, everybody gets to grow.

I've never seen a journalist as daring as Fisayo Soyombo (@fisayosoyombo), and I honestly believe he's not celebrated enough.

He'd do almost anything — no matter how dangerous — just to expose the systemic and inveterate rot in the country.

In case you don't know this man, let me tell you a little of the invaluable things he has done as an intrepid investigative journalist.

In 2018, he drove a car equivalent to a stolen vehicle from Abuja to Lagos and passed through 86 checkpoints. He paid a total of about ₦46,000 in bribes. Imagine someone going through all that risk just to further expose the level of corruption on our roads.

But that's even a small thing.

In 2019, he deliberately got himself arrested, spent five days in a police cell and eight days in Ikoyi Prison. He was able to practically show how bail has become something people buy in prisons and how drugs fly around there, among other distasteful things.

In 2019/2020, this man went undercover again. This time around, he acted as a psychiatric patient at Yaba Left for 10 days, showing the kinds of terrible food patients eat there and the dirty and deplorable conditions they live in.

Between 2022 and 2024, he also went on to pose as a smuggler and crossed from Benin Republic with 100 bags of rice, showing the level of bribery and corruption among Customs officers.

In 2023, he spent 19 months infiltrating a Christian orphanage that was selling babies for cash. The orphanage was eventually shut down.

In 2024, he allowed himself to be trafficked to Burkina Faso just to expose how Nigerians are being tricked with fake jobs promising about $200 weekly.

In that same 2024, he entered the Niger Delta creeks to investigate illegal oil bunkering and was even detained by the Army for three days.

Now in 2026, he has just announced his latest 44-day (or more) undercover for another story that's going to be published soon. Just look at the pictures below, and you can already imagine what he put himself through for this upcoming story alone.

This man, no journalist in Nigeria comes close to him when it comes to the impact he continues to make.

He doesn't just report what's wrong or report what he's told. He walks into the problem himself and brings out first-hand experential facts!

Back when I was a campus journalist at the University of Ibadan, this man was an idol to many of us. He still is.
