I was fired today after six years with my agency, but I'm proud it was because I refused to work on software for the defense industry.
If anyone's looking for a front-end engineer with a passion for UX and an almost-frustrating amount of heart for design ethics, say hi 📨
@Chad_R_Stewart@TechIsHiring Hi Chad, I'm sorry I'm so late getting back to you—this got tucked away in hidden replies and I didn't see it until now! You're absolutely welcome to quote tweet this; thank you so much for offering to!
Also, I'm sure you're very excited for Street Fighter 6 :)

@brianpartridge I really appreciate you for saying that; I'm looking forward to better things. I've actually been meaning to join CA for years and just never followed through with the invitation—this might be the time.
@monteiro I really appreciate you and everything you do for the design community. I'm still totally reserving the right to hyperventilate about this later, but I'm hoping I'll have made Future-Me proud once this is all said and done. Here's to better things!
@clussman I really appreciate that! I hadn't thought about posting something similar to LinkedIn (I might want to be less radical there to avoid stirring things up in the local community), but maybe it's worth it if I can find a place with shared values.
Thanks for letting me think aloud!
I couldn't stop thinking about a line from @monteiro that I read in my early twenties: "You can’t buy ethics offsets for the terrible things you do at your day job." So thanks, Mike—you helped at least one young engineer grow a spine for when it mattered. https://t.co/s2OI6mVZaR
I’m a long-time Trek Twitter lurker, but in case this platform doesn’t last much longer: this summer I put too much effort into a #StarTrek starter guide to send to friends, and thought I’d share it here before the lights go out https://t.co/8iYZNt3KvY
@monteiro Should I respond to unsolicited emails from Amazon recruiters? If so, how? I don't want to be rude, but might want to use the opportunity to shame them a little if I can nudge them into more ethical work (or at least hurt morale).
@mpouliot_photo @Tskrlj Chiming in to agree. I hardly touch my 4x5 because it's not only more work and hassle, but wildly more expensive to process and scan. The P67 is close enough to 4x5 to satisfy me.
@nerdsforyang There’s an abundance of research supporting abolition as the data-driven solution. I highly recommend following Alex Vitale and reading his book, “The End of Policing” to understand the history and outcomes of these institutions (and their alternatives) https://t.co/Wyw8xMOYY2
@RepSpanberger@POTUS When politicians have no plans to adress poverty, homelessness, racial injustice, opioid overdoses, inadequate healthcare, etc. they turn to police to paper over their failures with more violence and mass incarceration.
