It’s been many hours since Israeli forces shot and killed a 7-month-old Palestinian infant in the occupied West Bank, and I still don’t see any headlines from NYT, AP, CNN, Washington Post, Sky News…
Israel murdering babies is so normalized that it barely registers as news.
Scott Pelley issued a public statement after Bari Weiss told staff the firing happened because they couldn't find a way back together.
Pelley's rebuttal is precise and on the record. Firing was raised by CBS News president Tom Cibrowski in the first 15 seconds of Tuesday's meeting. No executive at any point suggested steps either side could take toward resolution. Weiss and Cibrowski were openly hostile from the start. "To say so now is disingenuous."
Then came the part that changes the story.
"I've been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them."
That sentence is not about editorial philosophy. It is not about newsroom culture or management style. It is a specific, documented claim that the most decorated correspondent in 60 Minutes history was given instructions to put false or unverified information into broadcast stories - and refused. Repeatedly. Until he was fired.
Trump called Pelley "a stiff" and "part of a gang of stupid, crooked people" the same day he was terminated. Weiss said it was unfortunate but that's the path Pelley chose. Bilton's termination letter called it a performative display of hostility.
What Pelley is describing is not a personality conflict. It is a journalist refusing to broadcast what he was told to broadcast because it wasn't true. That is the job. That is exactly the job. And it is the reason he no longer has it.
Altering a player's authentic emotion after reaching the pinnacle of their sport for a phony AI image that doesn't even look like that player, is the exact opposite reason why we watch and love sports. We love the raw emotion that it produces. Such a disservice for no reason.
Take a slave owner or residential school founder’s name off a street or remove a statue and there’ll be endless screaming about preserving history. But when Israel destroys Tyre - older than all European capitals - in Lebanon and destroys ancient monuments it’s silence.
Follow the money on this one. It is rotten to the core.
The Pentagon just lent $620,000,000 to a tiny North Carolina startup called Vulcan Elements. The company is two years old.
It had fewer than 50 employees.
And three months before the deal was announced, Donald Trump Jr.’s venture firm quietly took a stake in it.
Here is the part the administration tried to bury.
Of the dozens of companies the Pentagon was weighing, Vulcan was the only deal initiated by a top White House aide. That aide was Peter Navarro, a close friend of Trump Jr. The order came down to move fast.
One official put it plainly: The call came from the White House. We have to get this done.
Staff worked late nights to push it through in weeks. Deals like this normally take many months of vetting. And when it closed, Vulcan’s valuation jumped from about 200 million dollars to roughly 2 billion.
A windfall for the investors, including the president’s son.
This is public money. Your money.
Routed through the Pentagon to enrich the president’s family and their friends. The Bush administration’s own chief ethics lawyer called it corruption we pay for.
And there is more coming.
A drone parts company Trump Jr. holds a stake in is also under Pentagon review.
This is not a one-off. It is a pattern. The president’s family is treating the federal Treasury like a private bank, and the bill lands on every taxpayer.

In what lexicon is ethnically cleansing one quarter of a neighbouring state "taking a much tougher stance". Shameful complicity in war crimes by @SkyNews@adamparsons
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
I’d drop this whole tough guy act if I let Trump publicly insult my wife and spent the next decade letting him walk me around a like a little puppy.
What kind of man does that?
In order to protect the human person in the age of #ArtificialIntelligence, we must once again reflect on the common good, the universal destination of goods, subsidiarity, solidarity and social justice. #MagnificaHumanitas

Look at the framing of this post. All of it is designed to justify and sanitize Israel’s actions. “Orders evacuation” is a euphemism for forced displacement, they’re destroying people’s homes on purpose.
They call it a “conflict with Hezbollah” as Israel kills Lebanese children.
I’m sorry I like Shapiro but can we just be real? Nobody is being silenced. AIPAC and allied groups are spending more than anyone besides tech (if you lump AI/crypto) in these primaries. If Big Oil put 30 mil into a house race and people said Big Oil was trying to buy races nobody would complain about that.
We can acknowledge that anti-semitism is a scourge that is on the rise & that some people use AIPAC as a stand in for “jews”, while also stating plainly that the pro-Israel lobby is trying to influence these races at a disproportionate level.
Both of those things are happening. The former won’t be helped by pretending like the latter isnt.
Insider reporting from an unnamed White House official says the Iran deal is “95% done.”
The remaining 5% of negotiations are focused on Iran opening the Strait of Hormuz and turning over all nuclear material.
Making this long ass post about how devastating this photo has been for you while you also have the photo as your avi is one of the funniest things in the world
