1. Today, I had a great meeting with British parliamentarian, Lord Oates @jonny_oates where we discussed issues relating to our two countries and how we can help each other achieve an end to State torture in Zimbabwe.

I expressed my dismay at the arrest and jailing without bail of Senator Jameson Timba and the 74 pro-democracy activists who have been imprisoned since June 16 on trumped-up charges.

We talked about the abduction yesterday of four pro-democracy activists who were tortured for eight hours by Zimbabwe's secret service officers.
Whilst we were in the meeting, pictures came through showing the massive torture done to trade unionist, Robson Chere.

I mentioned that the time has come to help Zimbabweans to use foreign courts to address torture practices by the Zimbabwean government, since the judiciary in Zimbabwe is compromised and not fit for purpose.

We also discussed how the rampant corruption, looting, and plunder by Mnangagwa and his associates are destroying the country.

I emphasised the importance of the British government in helping trace the looted public funds and bringing to book the culprits where possible and exposing their conduits in Britain and making sure that those with British citizenship are prosecuted in Britain and the money frozen.

I told him to tell his colleagues that sanctions don’t work, and that appeasement doesn’t work either.
That is why tracing looted funds and jailing those who are part of that criminality on British soil is important and key to putting an end to looting in Zimbabwe.

Lord Oates agreed with me on these issues and said that he would do his best to raise them with the British government!
