I was at the Welding and Fabrication department of our Institute - Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology yesterday and did demonstrations on handling basic equipment to our new students .

A little demonstration motivates a long way.

Successfully presented our Nigeria Country Report on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) today in the Republic of Korea as part of the 2026 KOICA Capacity Building Programme on TVET for Government Officials in Nigeria.

The presentation focused on “Current Realities, Emerging Innovations, Institutional Best Practices and Strategic Directions for Sustainable Skills Development”, providing an assessment of Nigeria’s TVET landscape and highlighting the reforms required to build a more responsive, industry-driven and globally competitive skills development system.

Our presentation underscored the need to strengthen Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), industry–institution collaboration, instructor development, digital transformation, sustainable financing, skills certification and graduate employability. We also highlighted the enormous opportunities for deeper Nigeria–Republic of Korea cooperation in TVET, particularly in technology transfer, institutional development, advanced technical training and industry-linked skills development.

It was a privilege to lead the presentation on behalf of our Nigerian team alongside Adianu Augustina E., Dr. Ben Onche Olofu and Cynthia O. Braimoh.

For me, this engagement goes beyond presenting a report. It is an opportunity to study Korea’s remarkable experience in linking technical education, technology and industry, and to identify practical lessons that can be adapted to strengthen Nigeria’s TVET ecosystem.

The next phase is equally important: translating the issues identified in our Country Report and the lessons from Korea into a practical Action Plan for Nigeria.

A PRIVILEGE TO LEAD NIGERIA’S DELEGATION IN SOUTH KOREA 🇰🇷

Today, I had the honour of delivering the opening greeting as Team Leader of Nigeria’s 14-member delegation to the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) training programme in the Republic of Korea.

The delegation comprises representatives of strategic Nigerian institutions, including the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; National Board for Technical Education (NBTE); Lagos State education sector; Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM); and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

Addressing KOICA representatives, Korean government officials, programme coordinators, facilitators and fellow participants, I conveyed the warm greetings of the Nigerian delegation and expressed our sincere appreciation for the generous hospitality extended to us since our arrival.

I emphasised that our participation in the programme is much more than an international visit. It is an opportunity to learn, reflect, exchange knowledge and identify practical solutions that can be adapted to Nigeria’s development priorities.

Our delegation is particularly interested in Korea’s experience in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), institutional management, technology, robotics, automation, industry–academia collaboration and the application of innovation to national development.

One of the central points of my address was that the true value of this programme will not be measured merely by the certificates we receive or the places we visit. Its enduring value will be determined by how effectively we apply the knowledge acquired here when we return to Nigeria.

We therefore accept the responsibility to participate actively, ask thoughtful questions, exchange experiences and translate the lessons of the programme into practical initiatives within our respective institutions.

I also encouraged my colleagues to approach every learning session and field visit with open minds, discipline and a strong sense of national responsibility. We are here not only as representatives of our respective institutions but also as representatives of our country. We must demonstrate the excellence, warmth, resilience and intellectual capacity for which Nigerians are known.

Beyond the formal learning sessions, we look forward to building robust professional relationships with our Korean colleagues and participating institutions. Our hope is that the connections established during this programme will develop into sustainable institutional partnerships, collaborative projects and continuing exchanges of knowledge between Nigeria and the Republic of Korea.

The programme promises to be intellectually rewarding, professionally enriching and culturally memorable. We look forward to learning from Korea, sharing Nigeria’s experiences and strengthening the bonds of friendship and development cooperation between our two nations.

I remain deeply appreciative of the confidence reposed in me to lead this distinguished delegation and to deliver Nigeria’s greeting at the opening ceremony.

May the friendship between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Korea continue to flourish.

FROM CONTAINER TO CARE

One of the things that has troubled me for years as Rector of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology (NKFI), Lokoja, was the fact that our institution had no clinic.

Whenever a student or staff member fell ill or required urgent medical attention, we had to rush them to the Kogi State Polytechnic Health Centre before they could receive care. While this arrangement helped, I was never comfortable with the fact that we had no first point of medical response within our own campus.

The issue became even more personal after witnessing situations where students required urgent medical attention. I kept asking myself one simple question:

"What happens when the next emergency occurs?"

For me, the answer was clear.

Something had to be done.

The truth is that this project was not an easy one. Before taking the first step, I sat down with my immediate family to discuss the vision and the sacrifices it would demand of us for some time. With their encouragement and support, I reached out to a few trusted friends who believed in the dream. Together, through personal sacrifice, family support, and the goodwill of friends, this vision gradually became a reality.

Rather than waiting indefinitely for the perfect conditions or the availability of public funds, we chose an innovative path—building something noble from one of the most unconventional structures. A shipping container was transformed into what is now the NKFI Campus Clinic: a facility designed to provide first aid, basic healthcare services, emergency response, and immediate medical support whenever the need arises.

Today, as this vision becomes reality, my heart is filled with gratitude to everyone who played a part in making it possible.

This project is not about a building.

It is about people.

It is about ensuring that no student suffers while waiting for help.

It is about creating a safer and more caring environment for learning.

It is about leaving the institution better than we met it.

As we prepare to unveil the NKFI Campus Clinic, I give all glory to God, whose grace made this possible. I sincerely appreciate my family for embracing the sacrifices this project demanded, my friends for believing in the vision, and everyone who offered encouragement, prayers, and support from conception to completion.

When I stand before this clinic today, I do not just see a converted container.

I see compassion.

I see sacrifice.

I see hope.

I see a promise fulfilled.

And above all, I see a future where no student has to wait for help before receiving care.

From container to care, a vision has become reality.

Looking at it today, I feel deeply fulfilled.

And this is only the beginning.

Open Letter to AEDC

Dear @aedcelectricity,

A single fallen electricity pole in Felele, Lokoja has left an entire section of the community without power. Information available to us indicates that the responsible technical officer had long requested approval for the replacement of the damaged pole, yet no action has been taken.

It is difficult to understand how an organisation that collects millions of naira annually from customers along this axis cannot promptly replace a single electricity pole. The consequences of this delay are severe. Businesses are operating at a loss, economic activities have been disrupted, and residents are being forced to bear the burden of what appears to be avoidable bureaucracy and administrative negligence.

The question many customers are asking is simple: What happens to the revenue generated from this area if such a basic infrastructure issue cannot be addressed without prolonged delays?

We call on AEDC management to treat this matter as an emergency and restore power to the affected communities without further delay. Every additional day of outage translates into lost income, damaged businesses, and increased hardship for residents.

We expect this fault to be rectified immediately. Customers who faithfully pay their bills deserve better service, quicker response times, and greater accountability.

Enough of the bureaucracy. Fix the pole. Restore power. Let businesses breathe again.

Abandoned Building Beside Zone 8 Headquarters, Lokoja: A Call for Immediate Action

To the Inspector-General of Police, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 8, and relevant authorities of the Nigeria Police Force.

I write as a concerned citizen regarding an abandoned building located within the vicinity of the Zone 8 Police Headquarters and the Police Barracks in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The structure, reportedly constructed under a police intervention or special funding arrangement, appears to have been completed for some time. Unfortunately, rather than serving any visible public or institutional purpose, it has remained unoccupied and unused. Over time, the effects of neglect have become increasingly apparent. Sections of the roof are deteriorating, weeds have overtaken the surroundings, and the building is gradually falling into disrepair.

This situation raises important questions about public accountability and the prudent use of scarce resources. At a time when government agencies face pressing infrastructure and operational needs, it is difficult to understand why a completed facility would be left idle while deterioration continues unchecked.

Every abandoned public asset represents not only wasted funds but also a missed opportunity. Such a facility could potentially serve as an operational office, training centre, community policing hub, administrative annex, welfare facility, or any other purpose that advances the objectives of the Nigeria Police Force and benefits the public.

As the rainy season intensifies, continued inaction risks further damage to the structure, leading to additional costs that could have been avoided through timely utilisation and maintenance.

I respectfully call on the appropriate authorities to investigate the status of this project, provide clarification on its intended purpose, and take immediate steps to put the facility into meaningful use. Public resources should not be allowed to deteriorate through neglect when they can be deployed to serve both the Police Force and the citizens it exists to protect.

The people deserve accountability. Taxpayers deserve value for money. Public assets deserve purposeful utilisation.

An idle public building is a silent monument to waste. Let this one become a symbol of service instead.

One of the most underestimated sections of a CV globally is the Executive Summary.

Most people treat it as an introduction.

That is a mistake.

Your Executive Summary is not an intro — it is your positioning statement.

It answers, within seconds:
“Who are you professionally, and why should you be considered?”

Here is what separates an average summary from a powerful one:

❌ Weak approach:
• “A hardworking and dedicated individual…”
• Generic traits with no proof
• No alignment to the role

✅ Strategic approach:
• Clear professional identity
• Industry-specific positioning
• Quantified or implied value

For example:

Instead of:
“Experienced administrator with good communication skills…”

Use:
“Detail-oriented administrative professional with 5+ years’ experience optimizing office operations and reducing process delays in fast-paced corporate environments.”

Notice the difference:
• Specific
• Relevant
• Value-driven

At a global standard, your summary should also reflect:
• Career direction (not confusion)
