@verdaynne If you allow for acceptance without criteria, it destroys that feeling of belonging and identity. If literally anyone can be a part of the club, being a part of the club has no meaning or value externally. So we set rules and establish limits, even hypocritical ones.

@verdaynne Establishing an us vs them paradigm allows for the feeling of strength in numbers and provides an external framework for identity and the feeling of belonging. So we attack the other side because it polarizes our beliefs and gives the illusion of strength.
