That's it, folks: Today, we are leaving X. We want to thank you for all the fun we had together here and hope you'll join us elsewhere in the future.

[Typst @typstapp]

By now, more like three dudes and a gal, but yes 🙌

[Artur Chakhvadze @norpadon]

Incredibly, @typstapp, a fully-fledged modern alternative to LaTeX is written by just two dudes with almost no funding

This stuff is fantastic. If you are in the PDF business, I strongly recommend you try it

Should it benefit anyone here, I'm happy to share the notes from my reaction engineering course: https://t.co/d8BANBnhE0. Thank you @typstapp for making me not want to explode when putting this together, and we'll try it again next year! Lots of ideas for round two!

Let’s cut to the chase: Typst will leave Twitter / X on January 20, 2025. We just don’t feel like this is the best place to be for our community anymore. Starting now, we will also post our content here elsewhere ..

[Typst @typstapp]

@SirEndipityNA @kardianos No need! We have WiFi and you'll have to buy some more Typst Pro subscriptions before we can afford a Porsche.

[Kaze Wong @physicskaze]

I have been using @typstapp for most of my non-paper documents for a while now, and because of a collaborations on some documents, I need to go back to using overleaf, almost gave me a stroke

Wasn’t quite sure whether folks want this feature 🤔

[Matt Harrison @__mharrison__]

I'm always open to new tools and techniques to optimize my work. I have to strike a balance between exploration and committing to something.

One of the tools I've been playing with is @typstapp, a markup language for typesetting documents.

Typst has been a pleasant surprise. I'm in the middle of moving everything over from LaTeX to Typst, and it's honestly been a breath of fresh air.

Typst is just faster and more readable. Editing complex documents feels natural—none of that "I don't even know what this does nor can I tell if I have the [ or { in the right places but Stack Overflow says this works" feeling I used to get with LaTeX. It is easier to read and write and generates files almost instantly. With LaTeX, it would take almost a minute to render my books.

It's missing a few features compared to LaTeX (orphans and widows), but it does the job almost perfectly for my needs.

I even moved my invoicing system to Typst last week. It was a huge win, less code, and easy to change if I need to in the future.

Sometimes, the best tools are the ones that let you get out of your own way. That's been Typst for me. If you're tired of fighting with LaTeX or want something that makes your life easier, give it a shot.

What tools have you found that make a difference in your workflow?
