🚨 REAL MADRID PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

For the first time since 2006, Real Madrid members will vote to decide who leads the club.

🇪🇸 Florentino Pérez, president since 2009, is facing a challenge from 37 year old businessman Enrique Riquelme in what has become one of the most intriguing elections in the club's modern history.

🔹 Why is this election so unusual?

The surprising part is that Pérez did not have to call an election. His mandate runs until 2029, yet he chose to open the vote and invite anyone who wanted to challenge him.

It means Real Madrid members are getting something they have not seen in 20 years: a genuine presidential contest.

🔹 Who can become Real Madrid president?

The requirements are extremely strict.
Candidates must be Spanish citizens, have been club members for at least 20 years, and prove they can personally guarantee around €187 million.

That figure comes from a rule requiring candidates to provide a financial guarantee equal to 15% of the club's annual budget, which now stands at €1.25 billion.

🔹 Who can vote?

Any eligible Real Madrid member who has been registered with the club for at least one year can vote.

Members can either cast their vote by post or in person at Valdebebas on Sunday.

🔹 What has Riquelme promised?

Riquelme has built his campaign around some huge promises.

✅ Appoint Raúl and Fernando Hierro to key sporting positions

✅ Pay the membership fees of all 100,000 socios if he fails to deliver on Haaland

The problem is that Haaland's representatives and Manchester City quickly denied the claims, with City reportedly even threatening legal action.

Rather than promises, Pérez has focused on his record.

Despite the noise surrounding Riquelme's campaign, Pérez remains the overwhelming favourite.

He has dominated Real Madrid politics for nearly two decades, has not faced an opponent in five consecutive elections, and still enjoys strong backing from much of the club's membership.

But football has always loved a surprise.

Saying, "My money is my money, but his money is for all of us," may be legally correct in a narrow fiqh sense, but marriage is built on more than legal rights. It is built on mercy, sacrifice, love, and mutual support.

A successful Muslim home is not one where spouses constantly calculate what they can withhold from each other. It is one where each spouse asks: "How can I help lighten the burden of the other?"

Rights are important, but excellence (iḥsān) is even greater. The strongest marriages are sustained not merely by what is obligatory, but by what is willingly given for the sake of Allah.
