In this brief reflection for the Benedictine Jubilee, Abbot Xavier Perrin invites individuals and communities to return to the roots of their monastic calling: the people, places, communities, and graces through which God has shaped their lives.
The reflection moves through four simple steps:
Consideration: remembering what we have received.
Thanksgiving: naming the people who have revealed the Father’s presence.
Healing: offering painful memories to divine mercy.
Liberation: asking the Holy Spirit to release new life in our hearts and communities.
As we look toward the Jubilee, this is an invitation not only to remember the past, but to receive it again in hope.

The Jubilee journey begins! In 2029, we mark 1,500 years since St Benedict founded Montecassino, where he wrote the Rule that would shape Benedictine life for centuries.

@AscensionPress I am grateful for the change of your design of the Spine from the earlier mockup as well as for the very intentional approach to development of your final version using feedback from those who pray the Breviary.
At today's General Audience, Pope Leo XIV reflected on Sacrosanctum Concilium, the Second Vatican Council’s constitution on the sacred liturgy, and urged priests to respect the texts and norms of the Mass. The Holy Father reminded priests not to alter the liturgy “on their own initiative,” warning that such changes can create confusion among the faithful.
At their November General Assembly, the U.S. bishops approved the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart in June 2026, as part of the Church’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The initiative will include prayer resources, a novena leading up to the solemnity, and opportunities for dioceses and parishes to engage the faithful through adoration and works of mercy.
Through this act of consecration, the bishops seek to renew devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to recognize the kingship of Christ, perfecting the temporal order with the spirit of the Gospel.

Today, the Church lost one of her best liturgists in His Excellency the Most Reverend Peter J. Elliot, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Melbourne, who passed away at the age of 81. Bishop Elliot was the author of the Ceremonies series of books from Ignatius Press for different liturgical rites. A major supporter of the TLM, he played a huge role in the formation of the Anglican Ordinariate & their liturgical books.
In paradisum deducant te angeli; in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere æternam habeas requiem.
My Bible is locked up because I'm Catholic, and we're not allowed to have access to it. Only my bishop can unlock it, and I have to read it in his presence. Once I'm done, I'm going to perform my daily Seven Sacraments to renew my ticket to heaven, followed by purchasing an indulgence, which will allow me to rob a bank without consequence.
I love being Catholic!
@stinekey They cancelled the Saturday afternoon one from Immaculate Conception, but are still having a procession after the Sunday 10AM mass at St. James Cathedral
May the Solemnity of #CorpusChristi renew our faith in the Lord, who is truly present among us under the appearance of bread and wine. May the Lord give us the strength to overcome every discouragement so that we may always fulfill His will.
@OrdinaryThomist A baptized male alone receives sacred ordination validly. (Can. 1024)
Invalid matter for sacrament = no conferred sacrament. No indelible mark made, no grace bestowed.
Only change after is both the bishop and her incur excommunication. (Can. 1379 § 3)
The situation in the Gaza Strip is increasingly worrying and painful. I renew my heartfelt appeal to allow the entry of dignified humanitarian aid and to bring an end to the hostilities, whose heart-rending price is borne by children, the elderly, and the sick.
