@SaffronOlive Any chance of my boy Kambal, Profiteering Mayor making a reappearance on Commander Clash in 2025? I want people to see just how strong my boy can be when he's not constrained by budget ❤️
@ScottBarrettDFB@FantasyPtsData Love your stuff Scott but hope you make your way over to Bluesky soon as I'm getting rid of the hell scape that Twitter has become
@HailLordMidas I'm fully on board with people playing whatever makes them happy but I'm also under no obligation to play with you if I think it's going to be a miserable experience for me. Sometimes the "something I got for that" is me finding another table to play with.
@kovusoreno@mtgcommander If the hallmark of a good player is the ability to adapt and you are a good player then you should have no trouble adapting to the new ban list even if you're playing commanders with high mana costs. Like you said, it's a game of creativity. Get creative!
@HailLordMidas I literally build my decks with the goal that they are fun for both me AND everyone else at the table. That's why I don't play solitaire style decks. If I sit down at a table with someone whose deck won't be fun for me to play against, I bounce. Life is too short
@kovusoreno@mtgcommander For one, I wanted it to be banned. More importantly, do you know who most wants us to spend lots and lots of money on pieces of cardboard? Hasbro, their senior execs, and their shareholders. That is who wins when we spend lots of money on cardboard. The RC cares about the fun
@kovusoreno@mtgcommander Is the fact that black lotus and coalition victory are banned an attack on people who like competitive environments? Also, having a commitment to the game you love does not require you to spend large amounts of money on it. Love the game, not the expensive pieces of cardboard
@HailLordMidas Great! Letting people know the power level of your deck and potentially pivoting to a different deck is part of a rule 0 conversation. If you want to buy and play a banned card like Coalition Victory, then that's also a part of a rule 0 conversation. It's just a fun game 🙂
@kovusoreno@mtgcommander The responsibility of the RC is to ensure the *game* of Commander is fun for the majority of its player base, not to act as a steward for the value of anyone's collection/investment in pieces of cardboard. I get that this sucks but you should consider selling your expensive cards
@HailLordMidas So you were okay with other players previously having to initiate the rule 0 conversation re these cards but you don't want to initiate the rule 0 conversation re the same cards now that they are banned?
Also, calling yourself Midas is a bit ironic in this circumstance 😅
@kovusoreno@mtgcommander I'm sympathetic in the same way that I feel bad for my coworker who put $200k into leveraged bitcoin at the height of the crypto market. It sucks for all of those who have taken a hit but any sane financial advisor will tell you that a TCG is NOT a sound investment portfolio
@HailLordMidas If you don't care about how the ban affects the price then what are you so upset about? There's nothing stopping you from having a rule 0 conversation with your pod so you can play the banned cards. Go have fun the way you want 🙂
@Shikary13@HailLordMidas@mtgcommander > and I still lost money
So clearly you're feeling the impact of your *investment* in a piece of cardboard going down in value. Good news though, you can still *play* that piece of cardboard if you have a rule 0 conversation with your pod.
Sell your expensive shit, get proxies
@PaymoneyWubby@JimTSF If you require unanimous decision making then nothing happens the vast majority of the time in my experience. People seem to forget that MtG is a game, not an investment vehicle
@goberthicks@JimTSF Love all y'all on the RC. Don't let the haters get to you. People unfortunately needed a reminder that MtG is a game, not an investment vehicle
