A simple prompt isn't simple. Not if you're doing it right.
Before I type anything, I'm already deciding camera movement, lighting, shadow, whether this is a wide shot, a close-up, an over-the-shoulder. Every one of those changes what the audience feels, not just what they see.
That's not prompt writing. That's cinematography, film grammar, animation knowledge: all compressed into one line of text.

5 character sheets for 5 leads in School Ghost Hunting, all prompted through Google Flow.
Full turnaround so AI can read the character from any angle. Consistent proportions, same face shape, same body ratio, nailed down before I touch outfit or color.
Then I add an expression sheet. A ghost hunting series lives on reaction shots, fear, shock, forced bravery. If AI only has one neutral face to reference, every scared expression comes out slightly wrong. That’s why everything have to be made carefully and intentional.

AI don't look back at old work and cringe. It doesn't grow like we do. It can copy anything that already exists. Can't copy what hasn't happened yet.
That's why your CREATIVITY still runs the show.
I've spent many years in animation field and for most of that time, the pipeline looked like this:
Idea → Production → Distribution → Audience → Feedback.
Feedback always came last. And now AI changed the order for me.
Today, our workflow gets a lot more easy when feedback can be put early:
Idea → Prototype → Audience → Feedback → Iteration → Scale.
So if you have experience, you should have AI. Experience + AI is the strongest combination I've worked with.

10+ years as a creative director taught me exactly where this industry breaks. Good ideas dying in pitch decks because very few studios could afford/ have enough resources to actually show them.
That's why I started @sleepygiantstu: maintains humanity and leverages tech to do what used to be impossible.

You hardly see the difference in this AI animation. The style is wild. Super stylized, bold colors, very different take on Men in Black. So your creative input really matters. It’s what separates art from a good-looking output. Style. Color. Motion. Composition. All the little choices that give a piece its identity.
Feed AI better, and it gets closer to what you actually see in your head.

The biggest challenge in prompting animation is staying consistency between shots.
What I'm tryna say is, after creating an ideal background image, the next generated shot somehow look like a reset button. As it doesn't look like what I just did earlier.
The house, colors and character details kept changing. So I rewrote the prompt, tweaked a word here, added a detail there and re-rolled again. And again.
It's end up some nights I spent time fighting with words than actually creating.

Clear choreography and dynamic choreography aren't styles - they're different jobs.
Clear can read every hit, every beat, without any confusion. Dynamic trades that for energy, chaos, a fight that feels alive.
So, I pick what the scene needs. Pivotal duel, audience has to understand every choice? Then Clear. Messy brawl, the point is overwhelm? Then dynamic.
AI can generate both. Knowing which one the scene actually needs is still on the director.

Kudos on this! Insane work!
AI can take you pretty damn far now. It can let you take almost any idea in your head and turn it into a creative product you can actually put out into the world. The runway now is creative thinking.
How far can you take an idea and how well can AI help you execute it?

AI didn’t kill art. It just exposed how many of you have zero taste.
I’m building an animation with AI agents, I can generate different styles, compositions, lighting, camera ideas pretty much anything I want. AI can give me 1 video in minutes. Cool. But then what?
99% of it is uninspired, soul-crushing slop. The style feels generic and lifeless. The details look impressive, but they don’t serve the shot. That’s where your sense and knowledge of art actually matter.
Taste of art is harder to fake by AI. Every master can realize it. Taste becomes more important when generation becomes cheap. So your taste decides what deserves to exist. That’s the real skill.
When creation costs $0, knowing deeply what to bring into your AI is now important.

Old-school anime ain't just typing "retro anime" and getting exactly what's in your head.
You gotta actually name the stuff: film grain, hand-painted bg, cel shading with hard highlights, color a lil faded like the print aged.
If you skip that, AI just slaps a filter on modern anime. "Retro" in name only, doesn't actually read like it. Face shape matters too: sharper chin, long oval eyes with layered highlights, not today's big round eyes.
AI can spit out "retro" the second you say the word. I still gotta know what retro actually looks like first.

You need tons of skill sets to become an AI content creator: master prompting, learn different AI tools, understand editing, compositing, camera movement and a lot more.
You can buy all the courses and master every setting. But if you can’t DELIVER what’s in your head to the AI, it’s all useless. Why?
As a Creative Director, I think it all comes down to one thing: Storytelling.
AI isn’t a mind reader. So knowing how to see an idea and expressing it to AI like you’re talking to a real human.
How to get what you actually want:
- See it first: Don't type yet. Lock down the vibe, lighting and mood in your mind.
- Direct, don't just prompt: Treat AI like a junior creative. Give clear intent and guide it step-by-step.
- Speak like a storyteller: Use descriptive words and framing, not just a mess of random buzzwords.
Tools change every week. Your ability to articulate a vision stays forever.
Stop saving prompts. Start directing.

This is where things get interesting. We’ve spent years thinking about AI as a tool we use. Now we’re starting to think about AI as part of the workforce itself.
That changes the way we structure teams, delegate work and think about productivity.
The technology will keep evolving, so will the way we work with it.

As co-founder and creative director at Sleepy Giant Studio, most of my day is spent on visual direction, prompting and figuring out how new tools fit into production. But some of the most useful conversations happen away from the screen.
At Conviction 2026, I got to sit down with artists, builders, investors, and people working across the industry to talk about something I’ve been thinking about a lot: how AI is becoming part of the whole creative pipeline.
From idea development and visual direction to production and post, the workflow is changing. And at an AI anime studio, we’re figuring out what that actually looks like in practice.
How do you adapt the workflow? Where do new tools actually help? And how do creative teams work when the tools keep changing? Those are conversations worth having out loud.
Thanks to everyone who joined the panel and to the Conviction team for having me.
In full animation production using an AI pipeline, we don’t let AI do everything, of course. Human sets the anchor. AI helps us build around it. I think that’s the real value of a hybrid workflow.
AI can help us move faster through the repetitive parts, explore ideas quickly, and process multiple shots in parallel. In a traditional workflow, if you spend days developing one shot and it doesn’t work, you’ve already spent a lot of your time before you can try another direction. With AI, we can test more ideas, iterate faster and push an idea further before committing to the final version.
For me, it’s really about time. Time gives us more room to explore, improve the quality and scale an idea x100 when we know it’s working. We’re not using AI to make fewer creative decisions. We’re using it to give ourselves more chances to make the right ones.
