Good @uac29 meeting today with County Commissioners from across the state. We covered a wide range of topics, from wildfires to cybersecurity. We also heard from Speaker @mschultz_12, who gave a preview of the upcoming legislative session, with a big focus on lowering the gas tax and building up energy production. Senator @danmccay also shared updates on some of his property tax reform efforts.
More than 60% of the nation's 3,069 counties have federal public lands within their borders. The Payment in Lieu of Taxes program eases revenue burdens for public lands counties, enhancing their ability to provide essential public services.
