@Dr_Gingerballs this guy asked scam altman about costs vs revenue a while back and then backed off w his tail between his legs. how he's back to hyping. he looks like huang's puppy
@GaryMarcus@AndrewYang we should tax wealth. there's no democracy with substantial inequality.
i agree that the stealing part is important, too, though. but google was value-less without the internet, so by the same reasoning we should have taxed them as well. and amazon for use of roads, etc
@Dr_Gingerballs@DannyDayan5 The good thing is that enough of the world / US middle class is close enough to poverty that demand destruction will partially offset the rise in costs
/sarc
@Dr_Gingerballs If I buy X from person A, and then that person buys Y from person B, who buys Z from person C, etc.
Total money can stay the same, as well as total shares, but if the relative pref for assets over cash is increasing, then you may get some new steady state at higher prices.
@GaryMarcus Reasonable people: AI hacks may lead to the exposure of your health data
Narrator: No need to hack; the govt will simply give the data to palantir
@RudyHavenstein Perhaps deep down, they know that by being rich, others must be poor. That is unsettling, so they look for ways to blame the poor for being poor.
@Convertbond "sir, we will live in the metaverse and we will like it"
we have no need for wood nor the screws and nails that would form from it a box-like livable structure
@Grady_Booch@DarioAmodei folks often *do* believe the narratives that align with what they want / need in the world. even if it's hype, amodei likely fully believes it
also, bangalore looks beautiful
@Dr_Gingerballs Boomer politicians: "A1 is on the brink of fusing energy and unlocking quantum atoms"
If you burn energy and don't produce anything, that's inflationary sir
@GaryMarcus it's better for it to be useless bc then you are stuck on the platform longer. that's how most of tech is these days.
except AI..which partially undermines that model
@GaryMarcus Recently asked opus 4.6 max for a concise summary of 4 of my recent publications. I provided the original tex files. The resulting latex summary had citations keys that did not exist in the original latex or in the bib files. They were, however, very plausible bib keys lol.
