Wild Strawberries at the World's End will be released tomorrow. (a self contained graphic novel)
This has been a long time coming for me and @Katia_Vecchio_ . Would love for people to check it out. Fans of Memories or Murder, Lovecraft, and Twin Peaks will find it interesting.
@cevangelista413 Bay is the definitive American director in many ways. Bad Boys 2 is the definitive film about the insanity of 2000s. Ambulance is that for 2020s.
@TavyTavy86@ThePlaylistNews More than many directors, you just have so much stuff on Scott’s behind the scene process with interviews. Check out @dreamingkingdom episodes with Sonja Klaus.
@TavyTavy86@ThePlaylistNews Clickbait headlines aside, Brolin’s response is interesting. Scott actually discusses his approach with actors extensively as it is something he felt insecure early on.
He hates rehearsals because it zaps spontaneity and energy. Brolin’s answer suggests that the approach worked.
@eyecannotdie@MuseZack What the hell are you talking about?
Scott prides himself on being on time/ budget/schedule. All of his big movies finish very quickly on time, and he works with the same crew. His method is the exact opposite of Coppola’s chaotic sets.
There are so many materials on this.
@eyecannotdie@MuseZack I don’t know why that’s a problem. That is his approach.
Mathieson was talking out of his ass in that interview. This was the same approach he has when Scott was working with Mathieson decades ago.
You get a much more detailed breakdown in Wolski’s interview with Deakens.
@nuhUHuhpal@MuseZack Yeah, but that’s been approach for a very very long time since early 2000s. Because 2000s DVDs have extensive special features, you see these more in detail.
Not a value judgement on one approach or other. It’s just not true that his approach changed recently in drastic fashion
@TavyTavy86 I see some also saying this is Ridley’s late approach. But he has discussed in detail why he doesn’t like rehearsals (loss of spontaneity, energy) for decades. This is not new, and Brolin’s answer suggests it worked the way it should have
